HEADLINE: Akame ga Kill is a dark and violent anime that sadly fails to deliver a satisfying performance. Numerous cast memeber deaths occur as if inspired by an episode from Game of Thrones. All the while the main plot never achieves the climax and resolution as would be expected when weighed against early story development. Although there are moments of enjoyment, it feels at times as though the 'good guys' receive the short end of the stick.

WHEN TO WATCH: If you enjoy violent sword fighting alongside a cast of interesting characters then Akame ga Kill will tickle your fancies. Furthermore the show also features ... a yandere character that will certainly appeal to fans of such madness.

WHEN NOT TO WATCH: If you hate nasty surprises and that nagging feeling that the main cast are acting carelessly or that things could have been done differently, then this show will frustrate. Also don't watch if you tend to get attached to characters.

BOTTOM LINE: Akame ga Kill starts out interesting, but quickly loses focus. It attempts to come across as 'deep' and 'mature', but sadly only manages 'violent' and 'unsatisfying'.

Another good anime marred by a blunt ending – that is my final thought. For what it's worth, Tonari no Kaibustu-kun is a good shojo romance anime. I just feel they could have done so much more with it. At times it felt like they got stuck on 'unnecessary elements', causing a slow paced progression and ultimately unfulfilled ending. Nothing terrible happens, but rather you don't feel that the characters ever reach their expected destinations or got the promised resolution. I was content through the series, being curious how things would end with the various romantic interests; but alas, I feel cheated. I wanted ... more.

Regarding the main cast, the two protagonists are polar-opposites. Shizuku (female) is calm, introverted and somewhat cold, whilst the Haru (male) is energetic, violent and impulsive. At times Shizuku's incisiveness gets a bit frustrating, but ultimately it serves as contrast between her and Haru's different personalities. Thankfully Shizuku is not a tsundere; I doubt she's any of the familiar 'deres'. Her biggest antagonistic battle is not as much the love interest between her and Haru, but rather the emotional and intellectual battle in her thoughts. Haru's battle is that of patience and undying love for Shizuku's indecisiveness.

I would have given the show an 8, but the blunt ending ruined it for me. I should perhaps give it a 6, but I will judge the show on all its merits – both good and bad. Ultimately the last episode was a poor choice of script writing. The ending begs for a second series, yet none in sight. Apparently the mange is much more fulfilling. The anime ended while the manga was still being written, hence the poor ending. Reminds me of Ichigo 100% and Great Teacher Onizuka. In both cases the mange was superior because it ended properly. So read the mange after watching the anime.

"What were they thinking? They're screwing it up!" My sentiments about halfway through the anime. Sword Art Online starts out interesting, and a few episodes in it seems to be building up to something. Sadly this 'something' is nothing more than a bunch of sentimental hogwash. Sword Art Online is an anime that goes nowhere fast. The pace of the anime goes from 100 to 0 in about 11 episodes and throws the plot out of the window on the way.

I really want to like this series, and a part of me still does, but halfway into the anime ... they completely ruin the tension and make horrible an anti-climactic choices. Sure enough the whole premise of the anime is fascinating, but alas it is ruined by poor story telling and choices. To make things worse is the fact that the second half of SOA seems completely unrelated to what was initially introduced as the plot at the start of the series.

SOA is still worth watching due to its status in the anime community; but somehow I think it's a bit inflated. If you want to watch an anime with an interesting concept, then watch SOA. But be warned that it contains a lot of sentimental banter, poor storytelling choices and pace. Season 2 is even worse.

"Great potential marred by a shoddy pieced together story with no real purpose". I wish that wasn't my final thought – but it is. Kamisama no Memochou has an interesting concept and various characters that make for great potential; but alas, this potential is never reached. Various plots are thrown in one after another, but there is never a real purpose behind the story or the characters. The characters are real, each with their own issues, but a true understanding and resolve is never met. The anime is too short to achieve a proper climax and resolution; it tries too much in too little time. ...

Kamisama no Memochou lacks the crimson thread that weaves an anime together. There are plots and subplots. To me, this anime feels like a big subplot with mentions of a plot that never appears or fully matures. "I am a NEET detective, a speaker for the dead." Those are the words of the female protagonist, Alice. But nowhere does the story's action ring true to the statement.

If you like defective anime....I mean detective anime, you might want to watch it, but I wouldn't watch it again. So much bloody potential and such a waste of it. The characters really could have achieved so much more. *Sigh*

An amusing distraction – this is what Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon was for me. Ironically I would watch the anime again, but definitely not for the storyline – cause it was confusing as hell in the beginning. The character development is also shallow and the progression of the anime in context to time span and story location is limited. But still it was an amusing anime, if you like occasional breast fondling and big breasted female characters. If you are willing to put aside the discombobulated storyline and confusing characters, Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon is an amusing distraction provided by a weird eroge-loving protagonist and the busty ... females that make up the rest of the story. I would watch it again.

A very enjoyable anime – that is my one liner for Amagi Brilliant Park. The main characters are fun and interesting, while the story has many humorous moments. By no means is this a deep or intellectual anime, but rather 'fun'. The main plot is solid enough in it's entirety, although towards the end of the anime the true antagonistic force that initiated the whole situation is revealed and 'dealt with' in a un-fulfilling manner, almost as if to allude to a sequel, of which there is yet to be one. But for me it was never about the plot, but rather the journey. The ... show has its serious moments and thankfully never unravel into a montage nonsensical slapstick madness. It's coherent comedy; it's not harem/romcom stupidity.

A sequel would though be nice; and I would definitely watch this anime again. Good clean colorful fun.

Storyline
In my own opinion, Bleach has one of the most captivating pilot(first) episodes I have ever seen. The storyline itself is also very intriguing and quite fascinating. The mix of action and comedy is exquisitely implemented and each episode almost always ends on a high note. The only negative comment I have is on all the useless filler episodes that are scattered throughout the series and the one filler arc (bounto arc).

Art
My overall impression of the art is satisfying. And on certain episodes you can really see they took out all the stops, making it a spectacular feast for the eyes. As the anime progresses, ... the animation quality and character designs for the most part does also.

Sound
The sound is good and I must say I am quite fond of their musical score, which significantly helps build up the atmosphere.

Character
Since this is an ongoing anime, they have ample opportunities to expand on character profiles and backgrounds, which they execute almost perfectly.

Overall
You only have to ask yourself why Bleach is one of the most popular anime series at the moment. It’s a blend of action, comedy, a great plot and interesting characters.
