You ever just have that one anime? The one you want to come into your life, the perfect anime. Yeh it may not be the best at everything or infact anything it does but to you its still perfect? Yeh well this is that anime for me! Cute girls doing cute things? No miss me with that shit, Cute "Lesbian" girls shooting things yeh thats it right there someone call chief cause this is it!

Art 6/10
The art for this anime was alright nothing groundbreaking and its definitely not aged the best but for the time it was made id say there were much worse attempts. ... The colourful pastel theme really does this anime well considering how violent it is.
Also guns were drawn very well which i L O V E!

Characters 7/10
Again nothing groundbreaking some of the characters were pretty generic but they all served their roles and i dont feel like there was a bad character in this entire anime honestly, everyone had their own drastically overdone personality and it just made for easy laughs that you cant really fault them for. Old guy still in his Imperial Japanese uniform that aims his rifle at 1cm a minute hands down one of the best characters in any anime.

Gotta hit the sound with a 5, the opening wasn't the best but i mean it wasn't terrible, the music always seemed to fit the atmosphere they were tryna provide quite well but in the end the soundtrack just wasn't anything to preach about though it did its job admirably.

Story? What story? this anime was overall pretty episodic best way i could describe it is Nichijou with guns

I loved every single second of this anime and would laugh out loud at some of the dumbest stuff, hell even the narrator started questioning the show half way through it. I loved everything this anime had to over, it has its laughs hell it even had its sad/serious moments and was able to tell these short diverse stories with everything they had that genuinely put a smile on my face.

Considering how low i rated some of the stuff here for me personally its still a 10 i mean what can i say? I love girl and i love guns you throw that into this weird ass package and slap a comedy label on it and im bound to enjoy myself really. Straight up if you're looking for some stupid random show that shows cute girls shooting guns with a decent amount of fan service give it a shot you got nothing to lose, if you go into this expecting to take it seriously and to find a deep meaning behind it then you're just not gonna have a good time its just a buncha girls with vivid imaginations playing airsoft and its honestly the anime i've been waiting for and im so glad i got to enjoy this.

THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE DUB!!! If you watch the original Japanese version of this anime and enjoy it you are simply wrong and have terrible taste.

Ghost Stories (Gakkou no Kaidan) is a pathetic excuse for a piece of entertainment with paper characters and the most generic story lines in existence, making this "Scary" anime a complete bore. In a nutshell this anime is: buncha kids find out school is haunted so do spells from a book to make them go away.
The thing to note however is due to how bad this anime did in japan the people in charge of the English ... dub for this anime, ADV Films kept to the basic storyline but changed most of the dialogue causing this anime to be possibly the only Official abridged series (note that Aniplex themselves approved of the changes) to ever be released and this is what turns this heap of trash into the cult classic that is Ghost Stories and why i feel it should be a 10.


Story 4/10
So the synopsis written on MAL isn't exactly true, yes it holds true to the original Japanese version but the dub changes a few things up to make it more of a bearable experience, if you haven't read the story summary written by MAL i suggest you go read it now then come back to this and ill provide you with a suitable description for the dubbed series.

Keep in mind this was a last ditch hope to make this anime even watchable and boooy did it do its job well.

Years ago, all of the ghosts in a haunted schoolhouse were banished by a certain student. Now, they're back—and they want revenge...

Satsuki and her retarded brother Keiichirou are two siblings recovering from the not so tragic loss of their ugly mother. After moving to their mother's hometown, they learn that not only their mother was a lesbian but the local school they have transferred to is an old building—one said to be haunted. Despite initially brushing it off as a silly rumor, the two soon discover that ghosts are indeed real and that they're after them! Gakkou no Kaidan is the hilarious tale of the lives of these siblings and their newfound friends: Hajime the Perv, Momoko the hardcore Christian & Reo the Tight pocketed Jew (yes that's legit a thing in this anime i am not just saying this to be offensive) as they try to survive the school's ghosts—with a little help from their pet cat along the way.

As you see from my edit from the original summery of this anime, they changed a few details to draw away from the original story, on top of this the only rules they really had were no name changes and keep the rituals the same, other than this everything was fair game so it makes so many great quotes like "Wait, this is Japanese... ching chong ching", "Oh im sorry, when do you need another dramatic plot point to whip out that ghost book" and many random adverts for car insurance.

One last note on the story is the way they implement this comedy, the anime itself starts off relatively normal only having a few line that make you do a double take gradually building up to this full on comedy show that i've learnt to love.


Art 5/10
The art is nothing special even for the time but their implementation of 3D art is notable, also the bug is synced nearly perfectly so you can't fault it

Sound 6/10
The soundtrack is fine, has some cliché horror sounds to it which actually help improve the comedy i feel.
On the other hand the intro and outro.... what the hell they don't fit in at all and these are not just added to the dub the original opening and outro are just weird mismatches but not terrible songs themselves.

Characters 6/10

I honestly loved this anime and i will forever tell the world of its greatness... Look just watch the anime, anime watcher...

Megalo Box is my first sport anime and i absolutely loved it! Will it get me into the genre completely? probably not, but it has really opened my eyes to what this genre can be and i highly recommend this to anyone on the fence about sports anime

Art 10/10
One of the first things you need to look at when talking about Megalo Box is its art style, it just screams the 90's seemingly taking influence from shows like Cowboy Bebop and for that I need to give it a 10 on this.

Characters 8/10
Some of the characters in this can be seen as pretty box standard, ... hell i mean Joe himself isn't the most colourful of characters, sure you can really feel the passion for what he does but i personally feel like the only two characters making this an 8 on characters are Nanbu and Yuri. The development you see from these to characters are so powerful: Nanbu coming from a man seen as a scorpion that uses people because its in his nature and Yuri just some douche no one likes but turning into characters that have developed into something much more than that to the point where i sometimes rooted for Yuri as well as Joe for the final fight making the ending so much more satisfying.

Sound 6/10
The Hip-hop feel really did fit this anime super well but the music itself even though fitting wasn't really anything special by itself personally so ill give it a 6.

Story 5/10
The story is very generic, your underdog character Joe (Junk dog) starting from nowhere and rising up through the rankings to fight the champion. Can't really fault the story but again like the sound, nothing too special here.

Enjoyment 10/10
Contrary to how i said the story itself is quite generic it truly is a great anime that i think you should all at least give it a try. It has honestly gave me goosebumps with every fight (like i get at a real boxing match) a feeling that i don't recall ever getting when watching anime. The Joe himself isn't a character i feel has developed as well from the story as others his stubbornness really forces you to root for him and the risks and sacrifices made to get him where he is it really makes you hope that it all just works out ok in the end and you cant fault that at all.

Overall this anime is a 9/10 for me personally: The characters, the feelings i got during the fight scenes. I don't think ill ever forget this anime and i urge you all to give it a try because you wont regret it and im really happy this was my introduction to the sports anime genre.
