I know I'm going to upset a lot of people, but I'm going to say it: Buddy Daddies is better than Spy x Family.

I first started watching it thinking it was going to be a copy of it, after all since Spy x Family started airing it made so much success that obviously people would try to ride the trend... and I do belive this was the first intention with it, but still, they did it amazingly.

So how is this better than Spy x Family? Well despite Spy x Family being very good, it still falls under the problem that all animes nowdays have, wich ... is nothing happening, sure Spy x Family has it's archs, and fun events during its episodes, but it all takes way too long, and even though it doesn't feel like a lot, and sure it has a bigger arching plot, but very little happens to advance it, and the feeling we get is the same as all other modern anime have "we are setting up for the next season" and then the next season comes and "we are setting up for the next season" and nothing ever happens, you never get the reward, it just feels like an endless loop of trying to bait for the next season... and that was the best thing they did with Buddy Daddies, THINGS DO HAPPEN! YOU GET THE REAWRD! The anime really put things at stakes, therefor making everything that happens way more important, and more emotional, you feel happy when things are happy, you worry about what can happen if something doesn't go right, you cry when it's heavy emotional scene... there isn't really a moment where you think "ah everything will be fine because they're the main cast" specially during the end, wich I think it was very good. And all of the main cast got the proper attention, Miri, Kazuki and Rei, you get to know about them, and the anime focus on them equally, different than Spy x Family that totally forgets about Yor.

So that's it, sorry that I compared it way too much with Spy x Family, but it's impossible to not do, since the premisse is very close, but if you're worried about it being the same, it is not, it's better, well done, you get to feel emotional, and the anime rewards you without baiting eternally just to "setup for the next season".

-This one is a complicated case, I do recommend watching it, and I wanted to give it a 7... but I just can't, and the reason is the animation... I'm not going to lie, the animation for this one is shit, and it's not because the studio can't make a good animation, it's just that they OPTED for this, the art style is different, bit unique and I do like it, but when it comes to the animation, it's just shit, there's no other way to put it, mouth movment is awful, I usually don't even pay attention to this when comes to Japanese ... dubs(or any other original dub), after all I don't speak Japanese, but here it's just terrible, and the fighting scenes they are horrible... I almost can't tell what's happening, and they end super quickly, it almost makes no sense.
-Ok so if the animation it's so shit why recommend it? Honestly the story is good, the story is carrying this anime so hard that it pains me, if the animation wasn't so bad it would easily be an 8, and I'm sure it would the best Signal.MD anime as of yet... it's just sad that they opted for this "minimalist animation" for this one, specially that the story for this anime it's so unique and good, it's not something you'll find in other animes, and it really saddens me when a good story like this goes to the trash pretty much because of the animation...
-Apparently it got a second season already confirmed, wich surprises me a lot, because I really thought that this anime wouldn't do any numbers, since the animation is bad. But hey it did, and I really hope that they do it justice for the second season...

~But yeah it's going to be a 6 for this one, I do recommend it, the story is unique and good enough if you can pull through the animation, and it's sad that on a market so competitve as the anime market, when we finally get something like this, they decide to not do it justice...

I saw a lot of people complaining about the wrong reasons on this anime, mainly because the story being "way to fast not explaining anything" wich I honestly appreciated, since you know, this isn't the first show in this universe, there's no need to explain everything again, if you want to understand go watch Zero Kara... Also I saw a lot of people complaining about the amount of scenes with exposures, wich honestly what did you guys expected? Didn't you look at the cover? This is Japan, you should've learned by now...

Despite all this is this anime good? Hell no, this anime is awful, the ... animation is bad, the characters are bad, I don't give a damn about anyone, the new characters are bad, the MC has no personality, Holt is dumb, Kudd is boring, Roux is fucking anoying, and they managed to fuck up with old ones too, Zero and Youhei doesn't even resemble themselves... and the story, holy shit, it's so fucking bad that by episode 8 I decided to re-watch Grimoire of Zero to see if I was tripping by the time I watched it(4 years ago), because I remember that I did liked it quite a lot, and by re-watching I liked it even more and made me dislike this even more...

I'm only giving this a 2 because the OP is FripSide, this is the *ONLY* good thing about this anime...

Well, this is my first review, but is just to say how sad I'm about this anime... I really liked it, but they screwd everything at the episode 19... looks like they lose the rythm of the things, and they try to do something more complex for the last episodes but... it's just a mess, the focus that should stay on the relationship of Chise and Elias is just lost and instead of this they try to make a plot around Joseph/Cartaphilus and ending up with a total fail...

Don't get me wrong with my rating, I really enjoyed the first 18 episodes, but after this ... the events just messup with everything.
