Biases: I'm a sucker for an anime that can make me feel something and although it was shallow this show touched my heart in addition to entertaining me with some decent action. I do not continue with anime that are not at least fair. I am also enjoyment centered. I do not watch anime with a very critical eye and instead initialize it as a Saturday morning cartoons generally.
Story: 6
The first half of this anime had a far more enjoyable and less predictable plot as they attempted to show details of the world rather than tell them. There is a fateful 'worldbuilding' episode that
...
completely guts the enchantment and charm of the Earth in this show. The plot became very linear with very disappointing twists throughout the second half but on a weekly basis this did not ruin my immersion and I still looked forward to finding out what was going to happen.
Art: 6
Trigger delivers a unique looking mech experience with passable action sequences. The world looks mystifying at times and extremely bland during other times. For the budget I thought it was good. The animation did not stand out as being particularly bad and the intermittent beauty raised this score up from a 5 to a 6.
Sound: 6
The sound is completely unmemorable but it is not bad. Very generic tracks throughout the show that added almost nothing to it except for one, the opening. This opening got stuck in my head so much and the art that coincided with it was very symbolic of the characters feelings. It landed well when it was played in the middle of an episode.
Character: 5
These characters were very flat I am not going to lie. The only interesting thing about them was how the world treated them and their reactions to it. I liked the themes these characters explored, such as isolation, but overall they were not memorable to me in very many ways. I still liked them by the end of the show and it was nice to see how they changed in whatever predictable way was set up for them.
Enjoyment: 6
I really liked watching this anime every Saturday morning and I looked forward to it. I was never very surprised and the depth was not great but I found myself smiling like a fool a lot of the time. I thought it was going to be more serious than it was but the more lighthearted aspects ended up being fulfilling enough to really enjoy this anime.
Overall: 6/10 If you want an anime to turn your brain off and feel good this is the mech anime for you. With that in mind I could not finish recent mech anime like Aldnoah Zero or Valvrave as they were just too ridiculous and ruined my immersion frequently. This anime has many flaws but very rarely did it pull me out of the experience.

Why I even wrote this review:
The low scores from some reviewers struck a chord with me. No one in their right mind completes an anime that is not enjoyable. One would slay their credibility to score something low and then complete all of it, in my opinion. Sorry I just had to say it their salt just rubbed off on me.
