Review imported from Letterboxd
From an outside perspective, Atsuko Ishizuka's "Goodbye, Don Glee's!" Seems like a far more atmospheric version of Rob Reiner's 1986 "Stand by Me"
My perspective, comes from a man who spends 15$ on a ticket to an hour and a half film, classified as a "Special Event" past...special event my ass.
Even as an avid Japanese cartoon enjoyer I find myself rarely getting to experience the luxury of the big screen, with minimal thought I purchased myself a ticket, I truly thought "Don Glee's" was going to be something special, let me tell you why.
Atsuko Ishizuka is a director that touches the connection between
...
humans and nature, the atmosphere and our soul, friends together amongst an overwhelming world. She touched I and many others with her exceptional 2018 "A Place Further Than The Universe" excellent in every regard, all condensed in it's short but beautiful 13 episode runtime. From a synopsis I assumed I would get the same experience as I did with "A Place Further Than The Universe" in "Don Glee's" in which I received in a hell for leather degree.
The first hour of this film feels like a rehashed coming of age kids movie, nothing exemplary, as mentioned before I think it'd be fair to compare it to "Stand by Me" watered down to garnish a PG rating. It's characters are tropey to the bone, making everyone's dynamics dry, making it damn near impossible to relate to the cast of such a humanistic story. It deviates the impact and meaning of the film, in which comes to light in the last 10-20 minutes of the film...
The ending of "Don Glee's" is excellent, but completely unrecognizable compared to the previous hour + wasted in order to get to such a magnificent ending. Very little dialogue is held, there's a deep sense of understanding, every moment is spent carefully, like a really good short film. I wish "Don Glee's" was just that, A short film covering this ending segment, it's not though... And so after all the excellence there was a lack of glee within me when I had wasted 15$ and an hour and a half of my time.
As for objective points, The animation is fluid very picturesque with it's scenery a style obviously intended. There's noticable cut corners though Still backgrounds, CGI vehicles, and some repulsive renders of characters found in such scenery. The soundtrack is obnoxious, painful even, tracks often being over dramatic or not even fitting to the scene. English vocals that struggle to convey what it's true intentions are, and most devilish of them all TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE FUCKING STAR, I SWEAR TO GOT I WILL COMMIT MASS GENOCIDE IF I EVER HAVE TO LISTEN TO THESE BROKEN ENGLISH MOTHER FUCKERS SING TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR EVER AGAIN I SWEAR IT, I PROMISE IT I WILL DO IT-
I pray that season two of "A Place Further Than The Universe" doesn't resemble this disappointment of a film

4 years ago I watched the first season of "Teasing Master Takagi-San" It was such a comforting piece of Media, certainly a "feel good" show. I begged for a second season at that time, now I'm here 3 seasons later watching "Takagi-San" on the big screen with the dumbest grin on my face. Takagi in all of it's light-heartedness is a character driven story at its finest. This film delivered everything it was supposed to, it handled it's serious undertones well, delivered it's fan service (Not lewd ya weirdo) masterfully, it's animation, background scenery in all of it's fluidity had a consistent sense of quality
...
throughout, a spectacle on the big screen. It's soundtrack is fun and ecstatic, though some tracks were overused, my theatre also had a terrible stereo system. I was smiling the whole film and even hit the person sitting next to me upon the post credit scene. It's a youthful explosion, even though the runtime is tragically short, I believe it to be a masterpiece. If you're a fan of the show, please go out and watch this film on the big screen, it truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you haven't seen Takagi-san, please seek it out, I'm sure it'll bring a smile to your face atleast once, If you have no interest in the previous seasons, but still want to watch the film, do it. while some context is missing, this film is just as much as a starting point than the previous seasons.
This may be the end of the youthful adventure of Teasing Master Takagi-San, but that's okay, because it's bound to make you happy forever.

"Mysterious Girlfriend is weird." A line I feel has become all too synonymous with the series. It feels like it heavily under plays the beauty of it all, the beauty of love and youth.
The production for this anime is incredible, especially for such a niche Manga. The animation is set to higher standards than most anime airing today, and it's soundtrack masterfully accompanies the atmosphere and tone of the series. Riichi's artstyle is magical on moving pictures, and that alone is enough for any "anime-fan" to have this on their radar.
Mysterious Girlfriend X is more of an experience than it is a conclusive narrative. Afterall
...
it's been a decade since the first season, and with no sign of a season two, it's missing more than half the series. It's one of those joyous Comic book strips you'd receive weekly, and while there was no sense of structured narrative, it still establishes a strong connection with you. Having you wait excitingly for next week's fun adventure.
While it's fair to conclude that Mysterious Girlfriend X is an episodic tale, it would be unfair to undermine the depth the series brings, all the overarching developments and character relations that gives Mysterious Girlfriend X it's supremacy over others attempting at doing the same.
The elephant in the room is the kinky bonds found in the series, the bond of drool is something most people won't be overtly nostalgic about in their youth, let alone in their present state. The series intentionally takes the socially taboo subjects to shun the light on the pairs journey throughout Sexuality, and Love, it's beautiful, it's alive, calling it weird, or just "odd" would be a disservice. The show doesn't use these subjects to be quirky or to reel in a strange fanbase, it uses them as plot points, it pushes the story down at a smooth pace, like a raft on a river, just replace the rivers water with saliva!
No matter how strange or odd Mysterious girlfriend X seems from an outside perspective (even whilst watching/reading) when the scenes form into unbelievable imagery, this is when Mysterious Girlfriend X Is showing you just how real it is. Our bonds and connections with our loved ones, it may be as strange as drool, or as simple as touch.

"W: Wish" also known as "Double Wish" Was your typical Harem virtual Novel developed by "Princess Soft" and published to the Playstation 2 in September of 2004 this series went on to pioneer the worst genre in anime, that being the overly fetishized roleplay shorts.
"W: Wish" came bundled with an anime adaptation of the same name, Directed by Osamu Sekita
and animated by the now defunct "Trinet Entertainment" and "Picture Magic" it began airing on KIDS less than a week after the games release. "W: Wish" Went on to have a unique Spin-Off/OVA called W:Wish Omake
W:Wish Omake removes its protagonist entirely and instead asks
...
the question, what if the viewer became the protagonist? it attempts to break the boundaries of escapism in its 4 episode long runtime, and is quite possibly the worst thing to ever been invented alongside paper straws. As a stand-alone OVA the characters are not given any recognizable characteristics other than fetish tropes yet was compelling enough to spark something far worse. 5 Years ago in the winter of 2017, a more well know iteration of the genre was released. Studio `Typhoon Graphics` released their latest anime short "One Room"
"One Room" is a short series comprised of 4 minute long episodes designed to have the viewer become the protagonist. The viewer is forced to self insert themselves into a world where you are constantly being flirted with by three horny heroines. and apparently the idea alone was enough to warrant "One Room" Three seasons, and a spin-off called "Room Mate" where you interact with horny boy's rather than horny girls.
The series is given far more runtime but feels identical to the far shorter ""W: Wish" One room carries no weight and is strictly marketed towards lonely otaku willing to jerk of to anything 2D that moves. "One Room" has been so successful that im starting to notice a shift in my beloved shorts format.
Finally I get to talk about "180 Byou de Kimi no Mimi wo Shiawase ni Dekiru ka?" otherwise known as "Can I Make Your Ears Happy in 180 Seconds" The show is just about as bad as it's title, So I will refer to this show as "this thing" You see this thing is an abomination, it tarnishes the reputation of multiple art forms such as, Short animation/Anime, ASMR, and erotica as a whole.
This thing markets itself to be about ASMR and the beauty behind it, except it fully sexualizes and fetishes the medium. The characters talk about the healing process in the ear via ASMR, in reality the girls and the creators want you jerking off to the sound design and still frames of cute 2D girls. While ASMR has sexual traits i feel as if this depiction is totally unsat, and is utterly vulgar. it also objectively fails at being relaxing, as the sound design is poorly mixed and they play a terrible ending that contradicts the damn show it surely will abrupt any form of enjoyment from the series.
As erotica it fails even worse, half the shots are still frames of terribly positioned close-ups the girls are purely just pin-up's and are marketed at the most cliché fetishes. its offensive to anything that has come before it, to give this thing any remote compliments.
I beg anyone reading this, do not watch any of these shows, these companies are not here to provide you a show, or a product, they are here to make money off of you and weak vulgar incel otaku, who are capable of busting nuts in under 3 minutes. I'd hate to see one of my favorite formats of animation in general be overrun by these terrible roleplay fetish anime. Go watch "Space Patrol Luluco" Instead.

If you can ignore all the loli/pedo shit (which I don't blame you if you can't) this show has some good things to offer, specifically in its story telling and character department, Its truly something else witnessing a 34 year old man-child getting a second chance after fapping his rooster to some hentai. All the characters have quite a bit of depth, wether its a character that's added for comedic effect or a character that is essential for developing the story, now does this mean they treat the characters as well as they write them? of course not, as I mentioned earlier they throw
...
this gross ass loli fan service down your throat every damn episode, its not to deepen the relationship of the character, it is strictly there to please to lolicons, I've noticed that people use the argument "it isn't that important" its important enough to bring down the score of a 8/10 show to a 6/10, I hate watching characters I genuinely like, being manipulated and molested just to display that the main character is a pervert, once would be fine with me, but i happens every damn episode just to please the viewer, its not comedically entertaining, it just makes me uncomfortable, I want to stop talking about this element because its actually the only main issue I have with the series the story is still opening up to us as a bigger issue is now occurring, the world is actually mysterious making me question if the black spot on my penis is actually that unique, I love stories that depict a whole characters life, and although this series fails when it comes to romantic character relationships, it certainly doesn't fail in displaying progress in Knowledge/Power this fucker learned multiple languages in 2 years, he also somehow learned how to touch a wolfs asshole (that's how all fanservice should be btw) this isn't some easy feat for the protagonist, it actually shows how difficult it is to learn such subjects, and with our protagonists special power of curiosity he's truly unraveling into a likeable character, he just needs to drop the pedo shit, and to shatter your hopes of that happening, I don't think it will happen anytime soon
Below I will leave a much more bland review with no humor intended
Story 7/10
Mushoku Tensei has a interesting and clever world, comprised of actual lore that doesn't make you want to snap your neck, Its a world that can only be adapted into multiple season's.
Art 8/10
A studio made, just to make this a Anime, they have made a rather respectable adaptation, its probably the best looking anime this season, and that's no small achievement considering Mappa was in the game this season as well.
Sound 8/10
You're aware music/sound is art right, fucking idiots...
Character 5/10
Characters with depth put into awful situations with no real purpose but to make the viewer feel uncomfortable, if fanservice just didn't exist in this anime this rating would be much higher.
Enjoyment 6/10
I'm attached to almost everything this anime offers, but I'm constantly being made uncomfortable from the gross loli fanservice
Overall 6/10
This rating is based on my particular weak stomach when it comes to loli's, this score will certainly differ when it comes to how you deal with such topics, I can't recommend this to many people for said reason
Final Note
This review has practically become a rant on loli's and for that I apologize but on another note how many times did I say loli during this review, first one to get it gets a kiss from your boy

Ahhhh Yes, the infamous "Kanojo, Okarishimasu" otherwise known as "Rent A Girlfriend" like many others my first introduction to the series was via the anime that came out in the Summer of 2020, i had become impatient and decided to read the manga after the third episode, at the time I was rather satisfied with my commitment, all though it took a day from me, it was still an enjoyable read worthy of a 6 or 7 our of 10. I'm writing this review because my initial thoughts have changed drastically due to recent chapters, I simply cannot recommend "Rent A Girlfriend" Without spoiling
...
recent events to much, recent chapters have deteriorated this trashy romcom, with some genuinely likeable characters, to a romcom where the author slaps your nuts at the end of each chapter, I want you to imagine this, You're having sex with the most attractive person in the world and right before you're about to climax, they whisper to you "Sword Art Online" which may not seem like a massive turn off to people who gave this manga a higher score then 7, but to anyone with at least 7 braincells, it would instantly degrade their genitalia, had a penis? now its a vagina. had a vagina? now its a gaping dragon from dark souls. its became very apparent that the author has run out of ideas and is trying to keep the series running as long as it can, now I don't think this way because the series has become a massive cash cow, I think this way because the series has become so popular, letting the series end before even half of it has been adapted into an anime kind of leaves everyone with a limp hype dick. the true problem is that they have dropped all of the somewhat interesting characters right on their asses, Mami a genuinely scary threat to the series that added actual risk to the environment was randomly abandoned with no context whatsoever, she made a minor return in the recent chapter but I have a strong feeling that she's is going to get a half-assed ending along with all the other side characters that are actually likeable... now Kazuya OH BOY WOOHIEEEE, I can go on and on about this orange haired fuck, but I need to water it down for the people who think this manga is actually good, you see whilst the anime was airing and everyone was jumping on the "Kazuya Hate Train" as i like to call it, I was one of those people who were on the "Kazuya Defense Squad" KDS for short I was one of those people who would argue that he was a likeable guy and had actual realistic traits to his character, as you may imagine I have entirely redacted this statement all the development that people will see in season 2 will be entirely redacted when these newest chapters get adapted, I now questioning myself if even developed at all? I truly can't remember... also Chizuru isn't cute Ruka gang for life...
After 176 chapters I must say this has truly degraded to a trashy mess, I cant recommend you investing so much time for such an average series, Sadly it will still continue to be popular due to the massive incels that have recently gotten into anime over quarantine, Im going to end up finishing the manga, but only because I've already sunk so much time into it,
I'm going to leave a brief overview of the elements used in the manga along with how I'd rate them
Story 3/10
Similar to many other romcom's "Rent A Girlfriend" doesn't have much substance to its story, and certainty isn't original there is a few plot lines that are enjoyable but are certainly not worth reading 100 chapters over.
Art 7/10
Miyajima, Reiji may be a bad writer but he certainly knows how to draw, the art is sometime borderline gorgeous, Miyajima, Reiji can also handle facial expressions very well this can lead to some great comedic events or some rather cringe fested ones.
Characters 4/10
as of recent chapters I have had to redact points especially from the Characters aspect, I'm left questioning myself if the main characters have even developed at all, and all of the characters that actually made the manga enjoyable for me have completely disappeared without an explanation as to why.
Enjoyment 6/10
I love trashy shows/manga I truly do, I hate trashy manga that are trying to play up as good manga, I wish i could rate this lower but then i think back to when i had caught up on the manga in 1 whole day, and how I would jump out of my bed and start hitting my head against the wall every time I saw Mami appear, If only it was still like that...
Overall 5/10
I don't sense a drastic change in rating depending on the ending, if something indeed crazy happens, I'd be glad to discuss it with you. If any of you took offense of anything i may have said in this review i apologize as i added these little jokes for comedic event in this review

A Whisker Away
Is really fine.....
It's basically Spirited Away but as a shitty romcom
It has none of the magic Spirited Away was able to create
and it leaves you with a sense of time wasted
It's a pretty damn good kids movie but I'm not a child
Its Animation is good
The Soundtrack is good?
...
But none of this matters when you have a copy-pasted storyline and shitty plastic characters
It has so little substance that I can barely review the damn thing
I paint it out as a terrible movie but what I find worse is that it's really just average
It's not great but its not terrible it's just really forgettable

(No Spoilers)
Look this is the first review that I will be putting effort into so it may not be amazing.
Story 9/10
High Score Girl is a unique show that takes on multiple genres the reason I decided to make my first review on High Score Girl is that I found it very special how it was able to change in just a single episode which isn't a bad thing
The first two episodes made it seem as if it would be a comedy about a girl and boy playing arcade games but as the show develops you see how it can change from a comedy to
...
a drama and then into a romance in the matter of a few episodes you start to become invested not only into the characters but the world this show just makes you feel like a kid again Yaguchi reminds me of when I was a selfish little kid who was too into video games to care about the world around me Yaguchi is a well-built character his character is quite literally built of video games he starts as a selfish kid who only cares for video games but as the show progress he starts to grow up and care for the people around him he starts putting more effort into things that aren't video games
Art 6/10
Not a big fan of the animation style that was used but it wasn't horrible or unwatchable
Sound 8/10
I love the opening and the ending
The opening is just a bop
And the ending feels like a sweet and beautiful lullaby
Characters 9/10
Yaguchi is a relatable character for anyone who has played video games while growing up his development is shown well during the progression of the show
Oono is a cute silent girl as she appears but her character is a lot deeper than that she has her life decided by others and the only way she escapes is by playing video games
Hidaka is a hard character to describe I think its easier to understand her character if you were to watch the show
Enjoyment 10/10
I got invested quickly I love everything about it the characters the video games this is definitely something you should check out
Overall 9/10
