Is it the greatest thing I've ever seen? No. Is it entertaining, funny, and cute? Yeah. Some of the things in it are a little contrived and over-the-top. But as long as you keep in mind that this is a comedy, it shouldn't bother you too much. I think my favorite thing about it is the music. I could play some of this OST all day. The characters are more like wacky caricatures than well-rounded believable characters. But again... this is a comedy. The caricature mechanic naturally fits with the genre. And seeing Tadano's and Komi's blooming relationship just gives me the warm fuzzies.

So while ...

It had the potential to be great. It fell apart in the end. The setting. The music. The art. The air of mystery. The detective-story feel. I loved all of it.

And then toward the end of the second half, it just fell apart. They threw a bunch of questions at us, didn't answer any of them. Spent time building up back stories for side characters that were genuinely interesting but horrifically under utilized. Explored opportunities for character development only to ultimately toss them out as though they had never been.

In the end, no one changed, very little was explained, hardly anything was accomplished, and it ...

Never has a story squandered so much potential so profoundly.

Honestly it started off pretty good. Fantastic mystery, constantly dropping little hints but never revealing too much, constant twists and turns to keep you guessing. And then halfway through... it kinda forgot what story it was trying to tell. I felt like I was watching a completely different series. They'd occasionally go back to trying to fill in some of the missing pieces for like, 2 minutes, and then, nah. Let's just watch them fight more beasties with no context as to what's going on and have the female characters cry some more. Ughhhhhhhhhh.

I wanted to ...

Adorable. Cute and wholesome and simply adorable. If you're looking for something with an intricate plot and a lot of drama, you're not gonna find it here. But let's face it. If you're watching this, you're not watching it for the plot. You're watching it for the relationships. It's a plain and simple love story, no more, no less.

Even side side characters get relationships and they're super cute, too. (Actually, some of them are almost better than the mains.)

If heartwarming fairy tale romance without a lot of drama is what you're looking for... you can't get much more on point than this.

Is it the *best* thing I've ever seen? No. But it's not the worst, either.

It can be a bit cliche at times, and I feel like some of the plot comes out of nowhere. And I really don't get the need for the reverse harem. Yona and Hak were compelling enough on their own. But, you know, whatever.

The subplot with the political intrigue was the second best part of the series, after the main romance. Brilliantly written. Very nuanced and intelligent, which isn't what I was expecting for a show targeted primarily at young girls.

Oh, and the music is flipping amazing.

For what it is, ...
