"I Want Eat Your Pancreas" is the typical cliché anime drama that I like so much. It had everything to be good. But the scriptwriter wanted to do something new and ended up making no sense to the story. All the drama of Sakura was discarded.
WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS! CAUTION.
Story:
The anime already starts by telling us that the second protagonist Sakura, has died. And that our main character (that we are not told the name of) is dealing with this mourning. Alone and that he did not have the courage to go to the funeral of the girl.
His last message to her was "I want
...
to eat your pancreas."
From here, the story starts a few months before Sakura's death. We see how they met and how they became "colleagues who get along." Sakura tells the protagonist that she is suffering from a disease in her pancreas and that she will die soon, but she hasn't told anyone but her family. The main character agrees not to tell anything to anybody. Also because he wouldn't have anyone to tell, since he doesn't have any friends. Sakura starts to go out with him, basically every day, she makes it clear that going out with him is fun. For the fact that she doesn't have to hide about her disease and how he is indifferent about it (it is what they say, to tell how you feel for a stranger is much easier that for an acquaintance).
In the meantime they go out a lot, interact with each other, and she tells more about her insecurities. Her classmates begin to suspect a possible relationship between the two, but the protagonist denies it. And Sakura says that they just get along.
But Sakura's best friend, Kyoko, without any reason starts to attack the main character and to ask about the personal life of both of them. This bothered me a lot, in my opinion, she seemed to be very abusive with Sakura. I even wondered if she didn't like the girl romantically. She is very aggressive, she hits the table and demands a response.
Anyway, after a misunderstanding the two, (the main character and the Sakura) they end up disagreeing and in another scene, they clarify their feelings, of one supporting the other, I liked this scene, I didn't think their relationship was forced. I started to like both of them more, and I understood Sakura well, I only thought that she was too positive for who is going to die, you know? They should have focused more on her fears. When the two travel together, he finds in her bag several medicines, I believe they are calming or antidepressants. It would have been very interesting if they had paid more attention to this part.
Anyway, after they get along, some time goes by and she is hospitalized, because of a recession. The two of them have several cute scenes in the hospital. On the day of Sakura's hospital discharge, the two agree to meet for a walk on the beach to celebrate her hospital discharge. The protagonist waits in a coffee shop they went to the first time they went out together. He receives a message from her saying that she got home late and that she would be a little late. After a few messages exchanged he sends "I want to eat your pancreas".
Yes, there is context for that.
At the beginning of the movie, she tells him that she saw on TV that if you have a liver problem, you should eat liver. So she asks him if he would let her eat his liver. And in another scene, when they have lunch together, she says that she has seen somewhere else that when you eat a part of another person, the spirit of that person stays in the one you have eaten and they become one.
After the message I thought: "She probably was not discharged and had a major relapse, did not resist and must have died in the hospital. But no. Not what happened.
After spending the whole afternoon waiting, the protagonist leaves, wondering what happened. At home, at dinner, he hears on TV that a high school girl has been murdered. And yes, it was Sakura.
I was like, whoa, is this a drama or a detective novel? It didn't make sense to me. I mean, it still doesn't. I even thought that who would have killed her was her ex-boyfriend because of jealousy, but who killed her was a serial killer(?) who was loose. In the middle of the movie, they gave an attempt at "foreshadowing", of Sakura talking about how dangerous such a street was.
But, really? An anime that is about a girl with a terminal illness ends up with her being stabbed to death by a serial killer who doesn't even speak or even appear in the movie?
From then on, I couldn't get any more emotional about the story. Everything seemed too shallow for me. Her diary, the visit he makes to her mother, her friend finding out about her illness. What's the point? She was stabbed to death, what difference does it make whether she had the disease or not. Before the protagonist visited Sakura's mother, it crossed my mind if she was not sick and used this as a pretext to approach him. But no, it was confirmed by the diary and her own mother.
And of course the protagonist's name. It is Haruki, it means spring, and she Saruka, which is the cherry blossoms. The movie shows some flashbacks of Sakura saying that they were destined to be together because of their name, that they were like Ying and Yang. Really?
The soundtrack is not all that but I liked the ending. The animation is very nice. The story is a cliché that had everything to work out. But the scriptwriter wanted to innovate and ended up leaving the story meaningless. All the importance, all the drama of Sakura was thrown in the trash.
I was disappointed with the end. 6/10 because I liked Sakura, the couple was cute, the history at the beginning is good and the animation is nice.

"I Want Eat Your Pancreas" é o típico anime de drama cliché que eu tanto gosto.
E claro o nome do protagonista.

Lovely★Complex is about Risa Koizumi, a tall girl, and Atsushi Otani, a short boy. The two at first don't like each other, but after becoming good friends Risa starts to falls in love with Otani, but it's not going forward, because Otani does not see her in that way, at least it is what he thinks, or wants to believe.
These two have so many comings and goings, but I like how sincere they are and how friendly they are with each other, to the point that even separated or quarrels, they care deeply about each other. I love that they go from enemies to ... Jul 20, 2021

First of all, I find it absurd that some people say that the story is only bad because of Yui. But NO, the "story" is bad because it's bad! It's not her fault alone, it's the script as a whole, ALL the characters! All these characters in this anime are problematic. There's no exception, and if only the script worked their dramas without having to mistreat the protagonist. But no, every episode is one of the vampires mistreating the girl for no reason. (Like throwing her in the pool because yes, you know? Even though she said she couldn't swim... And some people think that's cute ... Jul 7, 2021

Well, where to start? Tenki No Ko, or The Weathering With You, is another drama and novel by director Makoto Shinkai.
Contrary to what I've heard many say, this film is not behind Your Name. In fact, Your Name it's not all that. About the story, it's basically Your Name with another mythology and without the script holes. I liked the development of the characters, but it's worth saying that I liked Hina and her brother much more than the protagonist, Hodaka. I just couldn't figure out why he left the house, and I thought the movie would explain up front, but no. I know he ... Jul 1, 2021

A cute romance with a touch of reality. (but without failing to be a shoujo)
(Sorry for my bad English) In this story we will accompany Yuna, a shy girl who dreams of her prince charming and Akari, a girl more down to earth who has experienced loving disappointments. We'll also meet the two boys, Kazu and Ryo. I had already read the manga, I love the stories of Io Sakisaka, so before watching, I as already linked to the characters, which probably helped a lot in my vision for the story. SIMPLY INCREDIBLE! By far the BEST MAGIC GIRL anime I've ever seen.
I regret not having read/watched it before. The characters, especially the two main ones, are very well built and captivating, it is not easy to like them at first, but after a few episodes they become PASSIONATE! It was the first time that I liked a protagonist so much. Art is beautiful! This cute trait that deceives anyone, but with the heaviest ambience, and hideous (when we talk about dimensions). The soundtrack is wonderful, the opening, the endings, and the soundtrack in the anime match exactly the moment, in addition to being ... |
