Mild spoilers, safe to read I guess.
Takagi-san Season 3 came out during spring 2020. Airing besides some top shows such as AoT Final Season Part 2, Ousama King, My Dress up Darling, etc. While the other shows getting their own hypes, I had my attention on Takagi-san for some reason, and I'm glad I did throughout the season. So stay with me for a while if you may. as I share my thoughts about Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san 3.
STORY
A sequel to the first and second season, it follows up about our MCs and the same few supporting characters and their lives. Meanwhile the previous seasons
...
were meant as a foundation for the show and its build-up on multiple aspects...
Season 1 as the introduction.
Season 2 is the establishment of characters, relationship development, etc.
Season 3 comes with a deeper development and it explores more than just the "school romance" setting it has in the first place. They took it into a lot more things which is nice progress than just a usual school love. Especially our main MCs, which got their point moments at various settings, and these moments are indeed very heartwarming than any scenes in the last 2 seasons (not including the Summer Fest scene though). But still, I do like season 2's ending more than this one's, though I'm fine with it and they did just fine.
ART
Just like season 1 and 2, there isn't much to say about the art. The show is SoL based which doesn't require pretty much astonishing visuals and such, so it does well with what it is. Everything, including the characters' design, is practically faithful to how the source material is, which is the manga.
SOUND
Honestly speaking, having one or two of my favorite people in the anime industry do the music in this show is a nice gift for me to enjoy, and apparently, they did it. Yuiko Oohara and Takahashi Rie are filling the OP and EDs respectively. I don't have anything much to say about the OP, except I didn't even notice it was Yuiko singing it at first, yet the OP of this show is catchy on my ears as always. The EDs are special as always, about each episode having their unique song sung by Rieri+ additional soundtracks on a certain episode. Really liked some of the EDs and the soundtrack which Oohara sang.
CHARACTER
The show manages to develop a deeper relationship between characters, especially our MCs. Despite focusing a lot more on the MCs' moments, they still manage to slip and present a decent development between Hamaguchi and Hojo, which is somewhat enjoyable to watch besides the MCs' breathtaking and appealing moments. Despite being a school-based show, in this season they managed to adapt stories where the MCs both are taking a trip somewhere else and to see them having their time together outside all the way until a climax happens at the end of the episode is just a pleasure of my own as a fan to watch it.
ENJOYMENT
I really enjoyed this season more than the previous ones. Despite being a classic teen RomCom, Takagi-san is a unique show and manages to stand up more than some other RomCom, enough to make me keep on following up with it.
---
In conclusion, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san Season 3 is a good show. Despite airing in the middle of big shows, it manages to shine in its own special way, and looking back at the prequels, it does a far better job overall, including the pacing which made me less bored to keep watching and eagerly wait every week. The execution of the show until the ending is pretty good as they are also going all out on the music usage on each episode up until the ending.
This show is really worth watching, especially if you are a fan of RomCom/SoL. Though I recommend you watch the prequels first if you haven't seen them, so you can get a context of the show as a whole.

A BIT OF A SPOILER. KINDLY READ JUST THE FIRST AND LAST PARAGRAPH IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE SHOW.
Coming as an anime adaptation of a Light Nove with the same name in 2021. 86 Stood up as a candidate of AOTY which I think is only on par with Mushoku Tensei. While I think both are deserving, 86 on the other hand is an absolute banger on its genre. 86 Part 2 is the second cour of the first cour of season 1 which was already potentially masterclass of a show, to begin with. A Drama show about war and humanity packed with a bit
...
of a mecha theme. In this cour, we are given a deeper insight into Shin's mental struggle and wondered to eventually realizes a reason for him to stay living in this world full of war and conflicts.
STORY
A continuation of the first cour, this one develops more on what happens to the 86 squad after they left the Republic. It also deepens Shin's sight of his struggle for a reason to keep fighting and live. Meanwhile, the story way is just good, focusing on Kiriya, until the climax where the two MCs met without them realizing it, the season closed up with a final episode finally having Shin realizing that he indeed still has a true reason to stay living, it's just not to bring those who have passed away with him, but because there are precious people to him that wouldn't leave him and of course, Lena. The story in this season reached its climax when the squad, mainly Shin, met Face to Face with Lena. I can't just express how sweet it felt when I'm witnessing this sin. Seeing the camera movement showing Lena into tears and continued with Shin's genuine smile just wrenched the heart. It feels like everything up to this time on the season is leading up to this very moment, THEY MET.
The story is a continuation and as a sequel, it manages to dig deeper and wider on many aspects, worldbuilding as we discover a lot of new countries, Shin's deeper history, and the final resolve of his mental debate, as well as many interesting new characters. The story is following its faithful way to the original source, the LN and I think they're adapting it just fine based on what I've heard. I wouldn't complain a bit except sometimes there was a point where a scene isn't well enough written to be remembered, but that's ok.
ART
Nothing much to say, the art is almost the same as the first cour yet improving in some ways. The CGI, such as the robots, weapons, etc are well made. Some scenery is necessarily made really well and beautiful, definitely memorable. The color palette they're using for every sin fits as the scene requires it to be. they are also utilizing a cinematic layout and certain camera angles to advantage, like the circular camera movement when the squad met Lena, which is a nice way to present a certain scene to its fullest potential + adding stronger feelings to the audience.
SOUND
The OST are well-composed and arguably one of the most memorable anime soundtracks. The show isn't cheap and went all out on presenting new OST for a certain point, such as the last 2 episodes, they literally had Hiroyuki compose 2 OST for each one of the scenes where Shin met Lena respectively. The final soundtrack is ultimately my favorite. 86 has done a great management on audio usage, great choice too on having Hiroyuki as the main soundtrack composer.
CHARACTER
Centering the story on the MCs, mainly Shin on this cour. Going thru various internal development, showing great character the show can write. There are also some new characters introduced on this cour which are likable, such as Ersnt. I think they're nice enough that a new character like him can be liked by so many people already in the community. Not much to say as well, but 86 handles its characters well.
ENJOYMENT
I can't explain how much did I enjoy this cour of 86. The emotional pressure on the last episodes is deep that it brought me a bit of a tear. Really, as a Drama/Romance fan, this show is amazing, deserving the best rank possible. Though the romance in season 1 is kinda mild, it doesn't change the fact that as a whole, the drama in it is splendid, brings somehow a sweet emotion to the audience. In all honesty, I totally enjoyed this cour.
---
In conclusion, 86 is a masterpiece and one of the best anime I've seen so far. Its faithful adaptation of the story way, classy soundtracks, smooth art/scenery, the drama, and almost everything in it are just beautiful. I am really fond of the show as a whole. Can't really ask for more except that I'm asking for a sequel. As "It is what it is, it is 8.6/10, or probably higher than that. That should be enough of a rant as thoughts of the show. Feel free to check out my profile for more reviews/forum discussion. Thank you very much, 'til next time.
"I will never forget."

A BIT OF A SPOILER. KINDLY READ JUST THE FIRST AND LAST PARAGRAPH IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE SHOW.
What do I seek from a High school drama show, you wonder? That I keep watching more and more of them meanwhile the industry keeps on producing shows in the same setting. It depends according to each of the viewers, for me it's the feeling of relation, life reflection, and entertainment of course. Oregairu is no different, it's a high school RomCom about youth. Now you are probably wondering another thing, what makes Oregairu special? Definitely not the title. If any of you are reading this and
...
brushing off the show because of the title, please think back and check it out for the second time. I was skeptical enough to not watching this show until recently, but I'm here to say that Oregairu is arguably one of the best Highschool RomCom on the medium. So if you are still wondering the same thing, join me on my rant right here and now.
STORY
The premise is simple, Hachiman is slowly seeking out a genuine relationship among his friends on the club meanwhile facing matters that seem to be creating a bridge of distance between these three. The story is deeper and isn't generic, it's as well a romance yet I like how the story steps up its course, not just entertaining audiences with a bittersweet love story but taking the romance as a way to develop relationships and the characters' personalities. High school at one point should be a memorable time for us all, and it makes Oregairu feels nostalgic to me, having highschool environment with so many portrayed types of student. The third season works as a climax/closing act for the entire series meanwhile the first season is an introduction and characters' base building, season 2 is how the main plot is actually starting to raise up, which is the back and forth relationship between our three cast.
The drama takes a bit more mature topic as it's dialogue & monologue driven. Requiring audiences to deal with it in a more mature manner and extra caution to the subtitles (If you are watching with it of course). I think it requires a mature thinking because some people may have misunderstood Hachiman's path in the show, or even the plot way itself. Yes, Old Hachiman could be relatable at one point but that isn't everything the show gives you. It's how you should be relying on others if you need to, there's no need to imprison yourself alone just because the society maybe cruel. It's fine to take a risk to find a true and genuine thing, in this anime it is true relationship between the characters, which they end up getting in the end of season 3. In the end, I realized the show is trying to imply several message that are really handy when it comes to living in the society as a teen or something.
The story in all honesty is outstanding for a RomCom anime. If SoL/Drama/Romance is your thing, then you will definitely enjoy Oregairu.
ART
There isn't much to talk about the art. But the visual in Oregairu is decently good for its type of anime. They managed to maintain or even achieve a better quality than the previous season, including character designs. The studio "feel" done a good job on the adaptation, except I heard there are few cuts, but that is about the story and again, I have no complaint since I don't think it changes my liking of the story.
Oregairu has what it needs as a Romance/SoL anime. They manage to make background scenery an advantage to deepen the situation or character's feeling. Like when Yui cries, the background has a orange-ish color palette, significantly most of Yui's special scenes come with a orange-ish color palette, meanwhile Yukino's usually having blue/dark colored ones which also radiates her personality as what Hachiman described as "the ice queen" before.
SOUND
Oregairu has Nagi Yanagi as its "signature", singing all the 3 OPs. The openings stand out a lot and will give me a strong nostalgic feelings whenever I listen to them now. Regarding soundtracks, Oregairu mainly takes the melody of the openings and make it instrumental as background theme which in some case perfectly blends with the scene. I don't have much to say, the OST, OPs, or in short, the sound in Oregairu is outstanding and I would give a 9 for its great usage to strengthen the aura in the show.
CHARACTER
Oregairu has various characters, but you remember them, and probably relate yourself as well. Each of the characters has their own unique way of approaching and interacting with Hachiman. As the season goes from 1 to 2 and 3, we were made as if we know them well from how they were all introduced and built in season 1. The characters aren't just a decoration to add on, but someone with personality on their own way and problems, just like our main casts, not to mention they have a repetitive yet eccentric names (For instance, Yukinoshita Yukino, Yuigahama Yui, Kawasaki Saki, etc). In short, Oregairu has plenty lovable characters that I'm sure you are at least attached/end up liking one, even if it's just a bit, pretty creative characters writing here.
ENJOYMENT
I've binge watched the entire 3 season in less than a month, which is normal I guess? When your into one show you will be hooked and stay watching, which was what happened to me, especially after Season 2 started. In all honesty, I wasn't expecting the feels to be as deep as it is. So ya, I quite enjoyed it throughout the seasons. It ends with a bit of an empty yet fulfilling sensation. Anyway, it was a unexpectedly a nice time, an 8/10 for Enjoyment.
---
In conclusion, Oregairu is indeed one of the best High school RomCom anime you can find. Its popularity speaks for what it has as well. If you are a fan of RomCom/SoL, this show is definitely for you. It has everything you are looking for to enjoy, such as a good story path, characters, and some implied message to make you realize about your life, not in an edgy way, but in a TRUE and GENUINE way. That's all of my rant about it. If you made it here, thank you very much. Feel free to check out my profile for some discussion/reviews.
