I've been reading this since the anime came out and picked up after the chapters it covered. Where the anime seemed to have interesting and thought out characters, all we have now are blatant moustache twirlers who the main characters are either blatantly ignorant towards or were originally concerned about until they just decided not to be for some reason.
It also feel like there is no longer any direction to the story. Either the author is doing an enormous amount of world building with irrelevant characters that just disappear before you can get a grasp of them, or they constantly get bored with the story
