In a refreshing return to the magical realist Tatami Galaxy universe, this little side adventure is funny, short and quite nostalgic. Even without Yuasa's direct involvement, the show still maintains his distinct eccentric and minimalist style used in his other two adaptations of Morimi's literary work: the parent story (done with Madhouse) and The Night is Short Walk On Girl. They even got Asian Kung Fu Generation to return and make the OP song!

exploring the fracturing ontology of a college freshman in a deceptively simple way but instead focuses on a small adventure, one that leads to personal growth — maybe. When it comes to college students, and people for that matter, we can't be too sure but the anime suggests gears are turning inside Watashi's head.
As my 600th completed anime, it feels fitting to have this welcome me on my return to studying in grad school as I had the parent story greet me on my entry into undergrad. It is also fitting that it isn't trying to be as complex in its presentation, probably partly due to Yuasa not being directly on the project and perhaps it also tells of Morimi's growth as an author (I don't know, I have never read his stuff). There is no physical manifestation of inner anguish here, just time-travel shenanigans.
Anyways, sometimes things just turn out okay as long as we remember what matters and to work towards: whether that is an aircon remote control or Atashi. It might not be true in real life, but it is a sweet sentiment that many might need.
