I'm gonna start this review out right. HOLY SWEET JESUS. THE PLOT.
Now that we have that out of the way let's continue with this ramble of a review. Steins;Gate was an anime that I was rather skeptical on. Don't know why but I saw no appeal into it. Even the first few episodes of watching I thought this was going to be a rather mediocre and cliche story.
...As I speak i'm kicking my own ass for this. Steins;Gate is what many consider a marvel. A simple masterpiece of the explanation of time travel. While this is in it's own respect an excellent anime, to
...
call it the best anime would be overshooting it. While everyone on the face of the earth is trying to find all the good things about this putative 24 Episode epic, i'm going to try my hardest to bash this anime. Believe me, this is going to be a very hard job to do.
First things first, this is not a Sci-Fi show you don't simple wait a day for an episode to watch. A lot of anime have a rather annoying knack to drag you in with a completely unrealistic plot that just brainwashes you into watching 6 or 7 episodes a night, losing sleep. As I say that, I just burned through 12 episodes in one day.
Anyways, to what actually matters. Steins;Gate has a somewhat predictable plot. Provided that the beginning of the story seems very mysterious and kinda blurry. Once you finally synced into the plot of what Okabe's motives and inventions are, it becomes a rather predictable and somewhat based story line. Of course, this adaptation came from a game so that doesn't help.
It ain't no color masterpiece. There really hasn't been too many scenes in the anime where the main characters will go out the window and see the world filled with beauty, grace, disgust, or griminess. It's rather disappointing because they can make some photogenic clouds man. :c
The Characters are your standard bread and butter characters that you get to see in tragic times. Meh. What can I really say except, ditto? The Tsundere acts like Tsundere, the Yandere acts like Yandere, the mad scientist acts like a made scientist. What else do you want?
The story is somewhat of a common idea; not exactly being overdone by other various popular topics like the over exaggeration on adorable people and items. Time Travel is a mythology that has been implemented into many video games, shows, and movies before Steins;Gate's time like Star Trek, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, The Legend of Zelda. The difference here, this is a different type of Time Traveling. Maybe I am being too biased onto how varied Steins;Gate's theories are. Take a guess.
So overall...It is an outstanding anime. It isn't named ranked #3 of the best anime in MAL for satirical reasons. The plot has some of the best views and images of how time travel can come to be. All the characters play their parts correctly and add their own flare to them. To me, this anime took the best of meme jokes and cheap gags and combined it with a mixed plot, science, and a really bizarre and crazy scientist. It flows evenly and nice throughout the whole show and I would be lying to you if I said that the plot isn't amazing. Check this one out as soon as you can. I can guarantee you, it will not disappoint.

The Story and Experience: The story of AnoHana is surprisingly great. The experience of this show wants you to sob and have emotions. That's what this anime sets out to do and is executed exceptionally well. Some scenes are rather vague and could have been written better.
Art and Sound: The art is pretty good, this is shown by some great views of scenery but to be exactly honest, it wasn't breath taking. Galileo Galilei does an amazing intro, outro sounds soulful, and the anime sound is pretty much on key. Nothing too important here, move along.
Character: You know...Know that I think about it, some of
...
the characters are pretty predictable in a way. We have all seen these acts before but not to say they are bad. In fact they do an amazing job, it's just that it's nothing eye opening. I think that the Character's are pretty good. Not original but magnificent at their roles in the anime.
Enjoyment: All I can say, I almost cried on this anime. Enjoyment in tears, is that enough for you?
Overall. This anime has it's minor flaws but the whole package you get in this anime outweighs the cons. Nothing is perfect but something can be pretty damn close to perfect and Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai is certainly one of them. If you have time for feels and have an expansive schedule go ahead and watch this. You will get your feels worth and then some.

NOTE I have not read the manga of this story yet nor will I probably ever will. I am a pure anime watcher and I judge what I see in front of me regardless of other original adaptations. Onto the review.
This is another one of those huh. It kinda feels like a downwards spiral of the same ideas over and over again.....Then again its those same damn mind hypnosis ideas that still gets chuckle from me. Dammit fan service!
Story 7/10: Not reading the manga I choose to judge it by whats on my screen and what I see was something predictable. Its nothing new here
...
folks but I would be lying if I said it did its job rather poorly. For the most part it held up.
Art Style 8/10: Though its not something very artsy like Oreimo or Black Rock Shooter OVA, the graphics are.....outdated but not bad at any means. Its just not really that special compared to its competition though again it does have really good view scenes that are eye candy. Heh.....and the "other" type of Eye Candy.
Sound 9/10: Surprisingly I really liked the sound of this anime. The OP was pretty good and the general sound effects of the anime held up pretty well. Nothing much can be said here as I rarely judge a anime by its sound. If it has a good plot then forget all that extra crap.
Character 8/10: Its basically a variety of cute girls with different personalities doing cute things to a male character.....Which we have seen before. But hey they did there best FLOODING us with fan service.
Enjoyment 8/10: I will cut this anime some slack as I do like this anime. I found some of the fan service to be hilarious and the bat to be insanely funny. However there is one flaw.
Overall 7/10: I feel it suffers the same syndrome as many other animes like this suffer from. They use Fan Service, Ecchi, Comedy, and etc. to make the viewer ignore the plot. This would work it is was something like Nichijou but its not and it kinda feels like more Fan Service and Cuteness. If you are the type of viewer that likes to see Fan Service, some SLIGHT drama, and some good laughs give this one a watch. Otherwise stay away.
[Cut]Especially those who are fans of the Manga.[/Cut]

You know an anime has to be decent when it has Hatsune Miku doing voiceover work for the music cues. Well naturally Black Rock Shooter is an enjoyable bizzare anime.
The Cons
-Its just...Bizarre, if you do not understand the plot you're going to mess up a lot in the story
-Characters are nothing too special. Nothing really leaps towards the audience except maybe Yuu and Mato
-The really weird moments. If you watched this you know what I mean, the staring and etc. Its just....weird
The Pros
-A BIG improvement over the OVA version. It has the more complex plot, the better message, and was just overall a better story.
-The
...
better variety in characters then the OVA version. Even though more than half of them are generic
-A better see in of the action scenes. The action scenes in the movie, what can I say.
-An overall, different and dangerous approach to Black Rock Shooter. See this anime DARES to be bizarre and crazy which not a lot of animes do. A lot of animes seem to gear towards the mainstream audience. Not to say its bad or anything but it gets tiring after awhile. This TV version it takes risks in building up its plot.
-The Plot, what can I say. Its amazing and probably has one of the best messages an anime has to offer. How you can express pain with friends and in the end you can better yourself from it. Once you solve the plot its an uplifting message, WAY better than the OVA version.
Overall 8. It dares to look like something different and for the most part it works. It you could can skip past all the groaners the bullseyes are there. If you like complex stories with great action and decent singing work then this is the anime for you. If you're more of a simpler anime guy watch the OVA.

This is a re-do since I just now know that the movie is going to explain some of my past issues with this movie. This is going to be short so here it goes.
Cons
-A bit redundant
-Nothing EXACTLY new
Pros
-More of what you expect and like
-Episode 7
-More Strike Witches and Neuroi
-More background to every character
...
Its freakin' strike witches. If you liked the first season you're going to love the second season.

This is pretty much another one of those kind of animes where Action and Comedy blend in like Bread and Butter. Its a great anime to watch just for some Enjoyment if you haven't already whored enough Ecchi, Comedy, or Action animu yet.
First lets go over some cons.
SPOILERS
-I have a issue with the very last episode of the first season and how every other Strike Witches girl knew that Miyafuji was driving the last Striker unit. I know not to use logic when it comes to anime but, how? She is about 500 meters away and yet everyone knew it was her. Not counting Perrine-San
...
and Mio.
-The Cliffhanger. This has got to be the most laziest ways to include more writing to hint at another season. I mean, I guess I can understand it might have a messaging error and it was just now registering but seriously. Really?
-Its a bit generic. At the very least a lot of these characters have probably been done to death but its kinda offsetted by a big assortment of characters
-The Art style is nothing exactly special.
END OF SPOILERS
And now the Pros.
-Episode 7: Need I say more?
-Very Likeable characters. Nearly every character has there own set of personalities. Like Lucchini is the obvious Loli, Shirley-San is the speed devil, Hartman is very lazy, and Miyafuji is the strong heart girl that will do anything to save her friends. I do have to say though a lot of these personalities seem a bit generic but at least there is a variety to it
-The Action: The battles with the Neuroi are just fantastic and show how teamwork can be portrayed as. It also shows how Miyafuji is evolving in her skill set
-The Comedy: Again, need I say anything about this?
-A simple yet great story. This pretty much is kinda like a Rocky story. A person who is a underdog in her class goes out to show the world what she can do and as a result it earns her recognition. It also shows some training moments almost exactly like Rocky, except its not Apollo Creed she's not facing. It also explains her feelings towards a certain Neuroi and to show that not everyone in the same grouping is bad. Its a bit simple though, nothing complex like Black Rock Shooter (TV).
Overall: 9. Its a great show with likeable characters, great story, good comedy and action and its an overall great show. You won't regret watching this show. Except maybe the last episode.
