[Intro] This is my first review but whatever. I’ve recently caught up to the most recent chapter of Chi no Wadachi and I felt the need to write a review of this amazing manga.
[ Story / plot - 9 ] Let’s start off with the story. Put simply, it’s one big mind-fuck for the protagonist, Seiichi, that just keeps getting worse as his love for his abusive mother grows stronger. Not because he genuinely loves her, it’s because she has made him feel the need to ‘protect her’ by his company.

him from everyone that she feels would be a ‘nuisance’ to their relationship. That includes, his dad, his girlfriend (Fukiishi), and his cousin and relatives.
I personally like the story because of how much it relates to me, not entirely, but most aspects. The whole manga in general was made to be relatable. Another feature of this manga that the author has done amazingly was the suspense at the end of each chapter. The more you read, the more you want to read. It sounds basic but that’s how I felt the whole way through. What was also interesting was the fact that nearly every chapter could terrify the reader or leave them is a state of shock.
[ Art - 9 ] Next, the art. I don’t have much to say about it but what I can confirm is that it is amazing and unique. Every face is made to look exaggerated which creates a suspenseful and chilling atmosphere. The art altogether fits the story perfectly since it conveys fear in a simplistic yet detailed way.
[ Character - 7 ] Moving on to the characters. For the most part, they hit way too close to home. The main character, who becomes emotionally unstable after an event that occurs early on in the story, who only has his girlfriend to comfort him. His girlfriend, Fukiishi, related to him a lot since her life at home was just as miserable. Now moving onto the woman herself, Osabe Seiko. She constantly manipulates Seiichi to the point where he makes his loyalty for her an obsession which degrades his mental health.
Quick note- Fukiishi is best girl.
[ Enjoyment - 10 ] Oh boy, I personally enjoyed this manga way too much. Despite it’s flaws, it was one hell of a ride. Since I am a big fan of the psychological / thriller genre, this was perfect for my tastes. It’s fast paced style and the fact that you could binge the whole series quite fast was an aspect that I likes quite a lot and wished that *Some* mangaka could adapt, however it doesn’t work for all types of manga.
Overall, it was amazing. Not a masterpiece, but very close. I couldn’t find any problems but one thing that was worrying me when it was nearing the end, was that the ending was going to be bad. I hope the ending becomes something memorable and brilliant since I know that the author/ mangaka has come up with some brilliant ideas so far [As of this review, there are only 76 chapters]
