Hey, I'm Spec

I've been into anime for years and am mainly using this to keep track of what I've watched and want to watch.

I haven't been up to date with too many recent series so I'm hoping to get back into watching things. I've mostly been consumed by danmei, so while I want to catch up on some manga too I also have stacks of novels to read.

It's refreshing to see a fellow samurai enthusiast.
Does that extend to jidaigeki, as well, or do you strictly like the anime variety of historical fiction?

I was a huge fan of the movies already so when I first saw that the story didn’t quite match up with them it was jarring but they ended up doing a really good job with the show regardless, plus Mads was great so you couldn’t help but to also like this version of Hannibal also.

I have to force myself to get back into the Walking dead as I stopped watching about 2 seasons ago and I wanna catch up.

King is really great at creating an image in your mind of exactly what is going on especially with things that would normally be hard to imagine, If you like horror he has some of the best.

It’s funny, the 2000s is about where my knowledge of child actors ends, I’m not really sure why but maybe it’s just because I grew up in the 90s and I watch a lot of older movies.

Once I got over the fact that it was telling it's own storie I really got into the Hannibal TV series and then bam cancelled.
So sad when that happens.

Yeah she was pretty annoying at first.
I hate when I lose motivation mid series, it can be so hard to go back no matter how good it is.

Even though IT changed some things from the book I still really liked it, Stranger Things was actually written by two guys who pitched a script for the IT movie to the studio, they were turned down so they decided to write their own show with similar themes and thus we got Stranger Things. haha

Fred Savage, Corey Feldman and Corey Haim were some of the go too's in the 80s and Mara Wilson and Macauley Culkin were big in the 90s
I'm sure there were more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I really liked the IT mini series from back in the 90s and then I read the book, it is so awesome that I re-read it still from time to time but I still love the old mini series despite all of it's flaws, also like Stranger Things this one had a great child cast.

Yeah it just had a completely different feel to the rest of the series, seems like a completely different character.

She did start out a bit annoying but she rounds out over the course of her arc, What ep are you up to now or are you still at ep 5?
If you want to see really good child actors then check out the new IT movie, it has the kid who plays Mike in it along with heaps of other good child actors.
I don't know where all of these decent child actors are coming from these days, it used to be near impossible to see more than one or two in any one thing and now bam they are everywhere.
Maybe someone is genetically engineering them. haha

Your right about the book/manga being better than the show/movie I can't recall anything that contradicts that.
But watching the show/movie first I get to appreciate it for what it is and then when I do get around to reading the source I enjoy it more because it fills in all the gaps, I understand this may be viewed as a bit backwards but I am viewed as a bit backwards myself. haha

Hannibal Rising was the only movie in the series that I wasn't a fan of but that could just be me.

I really liked both seasons of stranger things, Winona Ryder knocks it out of the park as Joyce.
I also really like Sean Astin so seeing him as Bob was a real treat for me.
I think it is amazing that all of the child actors are so good, it is practically unheard of to see so many good ones in the same show at the same time, great casting all round.

You shouldn't be sorry for stating your opinion, I am not someone who is gonna hold it against you just because we have a different opinion of something. :)
Some voices just take away from your enjoyment, I can certainly understand that

I hope you like it as well.

I never get around to reading the manga that I intend to, plus I am deathly afraid of spoilers and being disappointed by a bad adaptation.

Silence of the Lambs is right up there with is way up there for me too along with Red Dragon, The series went in a slightly different direction and I can respect it for that, it is worth a watch.

Yeah they have a knack for sucking the money right out of your wallet.

Well that's good to know, I like shows that have some resolution at the end of a season despite planning for a second, sort of like Stranger Things.

The only shows that are dub only for me are Death Note because I am watching it with a non anime fan and I can't see him being willing to read subs, I am just thankful he is interested enough to watch in the first place, and the other is anything Dragon Ball?Z or Super as I have watched the dub since I was a kid so I prefer it that way.

Your mileage may vary but I am obsessed with it. :)

I usually binge on things although at the end I usually regret it if the show was really good because it just makes me want more. 
I went as the Anthony Hopkins version, I really love the original movie series but I did watch through the series and was disappointed when it was prematurely cancelled. Mads put a great spin on an already great character.
We usually have the ring set up in the middle of the hall so you probably passed by at some point.
I like a lot of dark shows so that is OK but it’s sad to hear it went downhill in the second season.
I usually watch subs and if I really like the show I may go back and check out the dub to see what has changed, I watch the dub if I feel like playing a game or something else at the same time.
The only dub I can remember not liking is the one for One Punch Man as the voioce actor for the main character rubs me the wrong way for some reason.
Speaking of OPM the show as a whole is so good and is a parody of things like DBZ and other shows with super powered battles.
Sometimes it is nice to watch something light as a pallet cleanser after a dark or violent binge.

I don't get through much as my other hobbies take my attention but I try read a bit from time to time.

My only cosplay so far wasn't anime related, it was Hannibal Lecter but I wanna get into some anime related ones.
That was the only time I cosplayed at a convention but I have been going to Supanova Melbourne and Sydney for the past 8 years as a wrestler for the AWF, we hold shows there each year so at least I get to go and mill around with the cosplayers.

Psycho Pass is on my to watch list based on a few recommendations I have received but I just haven't gotten to it yet, it sounds good though.

If I like Natsume I will probably binge them back to back as is my tendency, once I get wrapped up in something I find it hard to break away until it is finished. :)

I am hot and cold on most of my hobbies gaming, movies, TV and Anime, I never know what I will feel like and I won't force myself if I'm not feeling it.
I do like parody anime as well, One Punch Man has me enamoured atm. I have heard Gintama is also a good pardy anime so I may check it ou.

I just read issue 50 recently and that was where the guy comes to the cafe looking for Rize, the weak one that she left in charge of the 11th district.

They provide a slice of Chise's backstory but you may want to wait until the end of the season because even though it doesn't spoil anything there is a character who I assume will be introduced in the show at some point who is present in the OVAs.

I am still very new to cosplay but I want to get into it more, I will start with bought stuff and move onto making my own.

Durarara!! took me about 10 episodes to really get into but then I couldn't stop watching, if you like a show where everyone's motivations are complex and unfold slowly throughout the series then you may like it.

I will have a look at Natsume Yuujinchou when I get a chance as it seems like something I'd watch based on the synopsis, I'm always up for trying something new, thanks for the recommendation. :)

As for my favorite genres I don't really have one I don't even mind romance, I will watch almost anything depending on my mood.
That being said I mainly choose based on synopsis's that appeal to me so I haven't seen any genres that I hate so far but I can't see myself watching any Yaoi, Shounen-ai or outright Hentai.
theshanesaw Nov 5, 2017 6:36 AM
I'm good thanks for asking. :)

Yeah the second season just wasn't as interesting and while I am slowly reading the manga I am not yet up to where the first season ends but I had heard it wasn't very accurate to the manga.

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying Mahoutsukai, I thought it was gonna be much darker when she was being auctioned off but then it took a more lighthearted turn. :)
I didn't know how long it is supposed to go for but as long as it remains interesting I will keep watching, have you seen the OVAs yet?

I devoured Ansatsu pretty quickly and it has become one of my top 10, I think the ending was so sad but at the same time so satisfying, although I wouldn't turn down a special or something that explored Nagisa as a with his assassination classroom.
I actually plan to cosplay as Nagisa even though I am probably too tall and Korosensei when I get around to figuring out how to make his robe.

I am really liking Inuyashiki, it is way darker than I thought it was going to be based on the synopsis but it also balances it out with some heartwarming scenes, like a well paced roller coaster but your mileage may vary.

I just finished watching season 1 of Durarara!! have just started watching Made in Abyss and it looks promising so far.

What are your favorite genres?
