A strong, well-made adaptation brought down by many rough edges in the presentation and a few questionable creative choices.

The Good
1. Strong lead characters with good chemistry.
2. Great Japanese voice acting.
3. A predominately enjoyable drawn art style coupled with generally good animation.
4. Engaging, down-to-earth story was refreshing after seeing so many unbelievable cliches/tropes in many of the competitors for Japanese school drama/romance animes.
5. Engaging presentation of the narrative.
6. Pacing.
... 7. Assuming the source material wasn't the novel, there were multiple welcome changes from the manga.

The Bad
1. Lackluster CGI was used often, along with a multiple scenes/sequences being unsatisfyingly animated.
2. I disliked all three voiced musical pieces, with the first two pieces ruining the tone/atmosphere built up for the part of the movie where they were used.
3. A few scenes with characters walking didn't have the movement animations match how far they were travelling.
4. One key part of the film was too whimsical/romanticized, incongruent with the tone of most of the film.
