Yato is a minor god who hopes to one day have thousands of followers and a shrine dedicated to him. As of now, he pass by doing odd jobs like searching for lost cats and fixing leaking pipes. Aiding these gods of that universe are “Shinki”; spirits that were once living humans that now become weapon/tools for the gods. Yato’s shinki has recently quit. Now, he must work with his newest shinki; Yukine, who isn’t quite happy with severing a low-end god.

This is the strongest point and the foundation of its successes. The novel is relatively simple and straightforward. It basically chronicles the journey of Kino who travels around the country on a motorrad (AKA: motorcycle). They visit many towns and cities, each with its own personality. It is written in a poetic way, while explore interesting issues like democracy, cannibalism, purpose in life, ect in a fairy-tale atmosphere with a mix of action too. The brutality, loneliness, nonsense, oppression and tragedy are what bring beauty to this story. I can guaranty, you will not find a book like this anywhere else. ART: N/A Since "Kino no Tabi" ... Without giving away the full plot, the theme of Annarasumanara is childhood vs. adulthood; a reality that ever child has to grow one day to face the hash cruel world of adulthood. This can be terrifying or thrilling. It is a very unique subject to tackle, but the author did an interesting job, while incorporates a touch of "magic" of his/her own. The flow and pace of the story is somewhat slow, but builds up in a poetic way. ART: 10 Art style is beautiful and distinguishable--pretty much the highlight of Annarasumanara.
