Overrated and pretentious. Many people whom have watched the series often say how "deep" this anime is and how they cannot understand it- creating a sort of culture that surrounds Evengelion as an effect. Also, "Coming of age stories" are and were nothing new when this anime came out. I recognize that this may have had a strong impact on the anime industry- but I do not care. I really loved this manga around the beginning to the middle, the art was decent and some parts of the story were exciting and well written. However, here is when the problem starts. I am confident that the author of this webtoon didn't plan the story out, I am pretty sure the author did not know what they wanted to convey in some parts. As result parts of this story were boring and changed some characters to the point where it does not make any sense. The Bride of the Water God focuses on more style than substance and the protagonist isn't very life-like. Focuses on too much conflict and political like struggles which I love, but they make it very redundant and repetitive. Not enough emphasis on the main characters and needs a theme, I enjoyed it to a degree, but it was short-lived as this manga is boring and I couldn't care about the characters.
