Well....where do I start with this one. To get it out of the way, i dont like incest and pedo fanservice. imo, just because its animated doesn't make it better, the idea itself is gross and I feel its meant to be a scapegoat for people so they feel they arent doing anything morally wrong for enojying it because its "animated". I also think thisis why the anime community gets a bad rep and I dont blame people for thinking that way.

With that being said I, like many anime fans, have to a certain extent become jaded to the concepts. So while the monogatari has ... the issue of including these concepts (and yeah I know its mostly there for laughs, but still), that still doesnt prevent me from enjoying the other aspects this show has to offer.

To start off with Karen Bee, I think the arc maintained the charm the bakemonogatari series had. Some complained it was drawn out but pacing didnt feel like an issue for me.

The main issue was Tsukihi Phoenix. Now, I havent read the light novels. I was excited for this arc, as tsukihi as a character interested me. Boy was I dissapointed. Out of the 4 episodes she was given she hardly appeared in 2 of them. I dont need to go into why I didnt enjoy the first episode of tsukihi phoenix, I already explained that in my first para, though admittedly it was....very unique. The second episode was a decent enough introduction to the new characters (though once again, a criminal lack of tsukihi). And to be very frank the last 2 episodes were perhaps the best episodes of the entire nisemonogatari series. Tsukihi Phoenix had the potential of being the more interesting arc had they given time to it like Karen Bee and not rushed it and filled half of it with fanservice (i know it was part of light novels, but there's gotta be more to this arc right?) It really fell short.

Overall thoughts on both arcs. The dialogue was interesting and quirky as always. The art and animation was fantastic. The music was good. Kaiki is an interesting character and Tsukihi > Karen as a character, I dont make the rules.

Overall it has its flaws but nisemonogatari has its strong points as well

With the new installment of the monogatari series approaching (which I've heard is apparently the last installment?) I decided to revisit the series from the beginning myself. I watched the monogatari series many years ago and left it somewhere in the middle. Back then while I did enjoy it it was lacking for me, some parts bored me and just went over my head, and some parts just weirded me out.

But after rewatching it again with a different mindset from when i was young, i came back here to change my rating from an 8 to a 10. The story was much more clear to ... me now than before and the parts I once thought were boring n longer existed. The whole series was interesting from start to finish. Each character had something interesting about them. Heck, I remember hating nadeko before, and now I honestly cant even remember why!

A unique anime that relies heavily on its clever dialogue to run the show, but despite that doesn't shy away from giving us fantastic visuals. the soundtrack is also spot on (who can forget beloved renai circulation? though many of the other songs are great as well)

Quite possibly the greatest "harem" anime of all time.

Well, after powering through for around 10 episodes I finally have to give up on this show. It's truly a shame, this was the series I was most hyped for this anime season and it turned out to be my least favourite.

I went into this show 100% blind so I cant say anything about how true it is to the source material.

The thing is, just because story telling is non-linear doesn't suddenly make it genius. I wouldn't put this to the same level as shows like serial experiments lain, baccano! and the monogatari series. All very different shows but each with the non linear ... story telling format which beckons the audience to attempt put the pieces together.

Here there was a mystery...I guess? I couldn't seem to care about it. I couldn't seem to care about anything. the characters are extremely bland and I cant seem to gain interest in any of them. The plot was equally uninteresting, at the end of each episode I couldn't find myself thinking "ooh i wonder what happened next!" I just didnt care at all. This series failed to evoke any emotions from me at all. Happy, sad, angry, curious. No, I was just bored.

The character designs are also very poor. Boogiepop has a unique outfit but each character looks too similar to each other, and once again bland. Its a common complaint ive seen that people keep mixing up the characters and I have to agree.It might once again have to do with the fact that each character is so unreasonably boring.

The best way to watch the series is by watching the OP and then skipping to the ED. Because nothing in the middle really matters.

With the second season coming up I decided to give this show a shot. A fantastic series with unique animation and humour that just hits the spot. There were seriously moments in this show where I got a good laugh.

I mostly enjoyed the first half with Mob having to deal with his daily life moreso than the evil villain organization arc. Mob himself is a very endearing character and his dynamics with others like Reigen are very fun to watch. The latter half was also pretty good, I think I didnt really enjoy the villain characters as much but the hero characters make up for ... it

Overall a very enjoyable show. Bonus: The OP is also really good, never skipped it. A must watch show, cant wait to start season 2
