Reminds me of Starship Troopers, but with longer runtime and a bit more apparent satire.
Context: I've been watching isekai, greatly dissatisfied whenever morally grey characters go full villain, slaughtering people and generally having no empathy for fellow intelligent creatures. So, why do I feel different about this show?
The setup. The show doesn't hide that it's about war and its horrors. Thousands of people will die, to the point you become desensitised to death. And in that war, the faction of the protagonist will lose. With that certain, it all becomes about the journey.

Considering my review is based on general story dynamic, spoilers incoming.
Second descent into darkness/slowly slipping into evil I've watched (been unpleasantly surprised by). While first episode hints at protagonist being for creating a prosperous utopian kingdom (shift towards light compared to previous season), by ep9 his desire to not confront his subordinates on their cruel interpretations of his words resulted in... Well, this cruel interpretation becoming a plan that they employed. Fuck this genre of MCs becoming homicidal maniacs just because. And to think I dropped the "So I'm a Spider, So What?" ln because I found the MC there a bit too much of a ... |
