Sidonia is basically EVA in space. Alien lifeforms are attacking humanity for unknown reasons and it's up to an unlikely rookie pilot to help stop them. Great and realistic action scenes mixed with a solid story and an awesome sci-fi setting.

Well, they both take place in space....They also deal with a futuristic world where humanity is dealing with problems that were brought on by past generations. They share the same sense of exploration in the story and have a head strong lead character. Also, did I mention that they both take place...IN SPAAAACE!!!

Both series share a similar style in theme and direction and an under lying plot that is emotionally heavy. They also share the same mix of character development, action, & romance throughout the series.

Both anime's stories are episodic with each story arc usually contained to just one episode. In each anime the main character travels around to various towns and cities to observe what's going on and usually lending a helping hand to the residents.
