Beatiful. This little story made my day.
Characters& Story:
7/10 (both)
Two slightly original characters accidentally meet:she's a runaway-escaped with her boyfriend from a father that was violent with her-and just became a prostitute, after her partner abandoned her, and he's an ex-farmer boy who trasferred to the city in order to make a fortune, but only ended up wasting his savings.
The most important difference between them is the way they face life:surprisingly, the woman(Sunny) is optimistic and still believes she can change her life with her actions, step by step.
On the opposite side there's the male protagonist(Lou):he left his home when he was still young, with the hightest hopes, but coming to city
...
he noticed how reality was different from his dream of a rapid success and became a man without a job and, above all, without any aims or wishes in life.
After his hopes were betrayed,he started gettin drunk, playing in casinos and chasing prostitutes.
That's the way they meet:after a night together she asks him for money, but he just leaves the room saying he hasn't got any. When he comes back,she-having nowhere else to go-is still there..
Theyr relatioship really starts in a rude way,but all that roughness is the expression of Lou's despair.
But Sunny, bright, genuine, able to value even the smallest beautiful thing in life and enjoy it slowly mends his wounds.
Then theyr relationship became a sweet, mature and fresh love.
Something worth reading.
Enjoyment
8/10
I really loved the two characters, they were genuine and theyr past combined with the realistic traits of theyr personalities made me enjoy this manga.
I liked the story too:the new beginning of two people with a problematic past that help each other to face it and grow together.
The end slightly ruined it to me,I didn't like it,but that's only a personal opinion.
My overall impression is stil very good.
Art
8/10
The art is really good, enjoyable if you like realistic characters instead of moe looking ones, and on top of that body proportions are well studied and drew.Anyway the most remarkable things about this manga's art are the colored pages:the characters are really well shadowed and seems pretty realistic in them.
Well,in the end a nice,non-average manga, telling you a probable story about love and growth.

Plastic girl is something special,it can't be really defined as a manga.
In primis, the graphic is really uncommon for a manga:almost every page is colored and has a frame made with wood, tissue, burned paper,etc...
The frames aren't drawned:they're like photographed from reality and then added to the drawings.
Another thing I noticed is the alternation between very bright pictures and very dark, shadowed, more tridimensional ones.
The graphic enhanced the story pretty well.
Talking about the story,Plastic Girl doesn''t follow an unique storyline, but is instead a group of very short stories,
The protagonist is a little girl dealing with the problems of adolescence, like the changements of her body,etc..Well,this is only one of the
...
main ideas and the author choose an extremely weird, eccentric way to represent it.
In fact, for all I've write until now,a reader could get the idea this manga is ok for everyone but I have to say Plastic Girl isn't really suited for all kind of public, not only for his uniqueness, but for his crepiness and for some strong, gory like scenes.
Moral:don't let little kids find it!
Well anyway, this manga is kinda twisted and slightly philosophical, sharing an uncommon point of view-the protagonist's one- about life.
The girl's experiences and thoughts are far from a real human girl of this age, disturbing and sometimes confusing.
I too,am not really sure of totally having understood Plastic Girl's meaning, because this manga needs to be interpreted...it definitely isn't a shonen manga with easy dialogues and a lot of battles.
In fact,Plastic girl is a really unknow manga,mostly-I think-for its shortness, difficult understanding and creepiness.
As I write before,it's not suited for everyone, but I hightly recommend it to someone searching for a dark, gory, artistic, unconventional manga.

I randomly started reading it..well the beginning was nice, with the protagonist being an observer, scared of other people that prefers studying them instead of integrating.
An unusual beginning for a shojo.
The protagonist also writes a novel and as a writer she's pretty loved by young girls who keep writing positive reviews of it.
Some day her readers start asking for more romance in the novel. So,in order to satisfie them, she decides to test for the first time how a love relashionship goes on on herself..a writer can write better if he really experienced what he's writing...isn't it?
A good idea,pretty uncommon.
So,she chooses a popular boy of her school and
...
decides to make him fall in love with her. How?By doing some missions, like hugging her, grasping her hand, etc.Obviously, she's forcing him to do that, because she has, photos he doesn't want others to see.
And then, the story goes on with him slowly growing feelings for her,and her playing whit him since she starts liking him too.
End of the good ideas:I thought the author could play well with the protagonist and make her slowly understand and feel love in a beautiful and delicate way,but I was wrong.
The author just started to put some horrible shoujo clichés,idealized her story and characters.(the protagonist's cousin is a good example).
Then the manga really began to be too cheesy and unrealistic to me:it seems like the author's always searchin an excuse to make the girl lead and the boy stay alone somewhere, then they randomly get closer but when something's gonna happen they are interrupted or she/he says something the other doesn't understand.
These continue misunderstandings and hiding of feelings really annoyed me.
In the end a shoujo manga with an interesting beginning that slowly deteriorates and become some cheesy, banalmanga.
You'll probably like it if you love very romantic shoujos.
