Sei no Kakuritsu, also known as Kiseijuu, is about a student, Izumi Shinichi, who one day will be confronted with non-human beings: parasites. What could be humanely hard to accept, is that these parasites nourish themselves with real people. One of them is going to try to possess Shinichi, but will succeed by just taking his hand. The main character will have one option: survival, if possible, help the humans or protect the people he liked.
Story: 9/10
Before watching Kiseijuu, I was a bit skeptical due to the genre. It describes this anime as an Horror-anime. It is true that there a few scenes
...
that could shock, nonetheless it should not be in my opinion over 17 years old.
On the guideline of the story, I savored all the episodes. None of them should not have been there, the twenty-four episodes were all essential to me. Not to mention that I really appreciated the fact that the director did not split this anime series in two and gave us directly all the episodes; they fit together neatly into a continuous story.
The ending for me was the best part of the story. Without telling you anything, I thought "this is the way it should end". It keeps us, the viewers, on a good question: are humans not the most dangerous species? This story returns us to current problems of our world with the themes as pollution, human rights or the development of our society.
Art: 10/10
The super realistic style of this anime made me really enjoy the show. The design of the main hero changes, when he is sad, happy, fearful or angry; every single step of the story is brought into account on the aspect and art of the characters. To sum up the following the main characters arts are unique in their own way.
Whether it is the nature, cities or parasytes everything seems to be carefully made in details. Thanks to the art, the path of the hero was well-done and it kept a part of mystery for the story.
Sound: 10/10
Do you think you'll listen to this OST in the future?
Yes of course. I especially loved the song in the Parasyte OST - « Next to You », which I would advise to anyone who is a fan of piano. For me, the best point of the music was that it had a real symbiosis with the images. The right song for the right scene, nothing more, nothing less. So the background was completely fitting to the atmosphere.
Characters: 10/10
My favorite topic: the characters. What I notably enjoyed, is that Izumi Shinichi will dramatically change through the story. Not only on his physical appearance, but also on his mental believes. He is always connected to his Parasyte, also called "Migi", and starts to have a reasonable good relation with it. Izumi Shinichi harbors various feelings to the parasite and you constantly hear what his opinion can be to any of them. I adored this internal perspective of the character. Even if you listen to all his thinkings and see his story with your own eyes, in the end, you never know if his actions were right or wrong. There never was one solution, but multiple ones. You just follow the path of his actions.
Without any doubt, my favourite character was Mrs. Tamiya Ryouko. The reason is pretty simple, she is the one who possesses curiosity. She will try to understand the human world. Also, Shinishi and her are having more often than not a few talks and she could maybe be considered as his instructor.
As many anime's, parasite gets a romantic side, where Shinichi is involved with a girl, called Murano Satomi, who is continually asking the same question: "Are you Izumi Shinichi?" Depending on the moment of the story, he answers in different ways. This is the occasion where you really see the contrast of the appearance and thinkings of the hero. It seems quite unusual at the beginning, but becomes essential with the time.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Through his philosophical, super-natural and fantastic conceptions, I recommend this show to anyone who wants to lay back and enjoy a good signing, psychological thriller that can capture your attention.
Overall: 10/10

"What would I remember of this anime ?
-Everything ! "
Story: 10/10
To sum up the following, the story is about a virus which will kill 9/10 of the earth population, with the exception of children under thirteen years old. Vampires invaded the planet. They capture all the children and have thanks to that a regular supply of blood. The story goes on with a two sided fight, on one hand the humans controlling some demonic weapons and on the other hand vampires with supra-natural powers.
I loved the fact that the anime did not focus on one side, but on both (humans and vampires). The two
...
groups seemed to have some kind of evil side or shadow that they want to hide. I saw plenty of vampires-humans anime and this one is on the story the best one, on his originality, its conception and its surprise.
Art: 9/10
On the art what I LOVED, was the uniform that the human army had, especially the hat. It reminded me a bit of the soldiers of Napoléon with their prestigious plumed helmets.
Otherwise, the constant change of landscapes of the characters is rather impressive and gives a good turning point story.
Sound: 9/10
The music did not especially caught my attention, but it has been in general very correct. In my opinion, what was bringing a default to the show was the voice of the singers which did not particularly please me.
Moreover, the last song at the end of the anime really inspired me.
Characters: 10/10
Undoubtedly, a few anime stereotypes showed up, such as Hyakuya being a high-school student in a normal class. Making some friends. Nevertheless, there is one original character in his friends, who is Shinoa Hiiragi. She strongly intrigued me. She becomes his supervisor and gets a surprising and comic character that I will let you discover.
Through the story, you discover the evolution of the spirit of Hyakuya. How he becomes from a young teenager, a mature adult-fighter; unfortunately what disappointed me or what could have been improved, was his lack of will on extreme situations. But it comes without saying that my favorite character was Hyakuya. I just expected so much from him, that I wanted him to go on a supreme rage against his enemies (for instance if they touched his friends). Maybe even more as he has shown in the story. His behavior, his strength or his look: all were appealing to me.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Now I would definitely suggest someone to watch this anime. If you like shounen/vampire anime then this definitely is for you. For me the first episode already got me, but if the first episode is not convincing you, then watch the first three. They should be enough for you to decide whether to continue watching it or not.
To round the score on the overall: 10/10
The main reason for this great note is maybe because some details, particularly affected me, but it is only my personal opinion.

Is the story unique? Would I recommend it ?
Definitively yes and yes.
In a nutshell, the story of Hoshi o Ou Kodomo, or "Children Who Chase Lost Voices", is about a young girl, called Asuna who is having a quiet common life on the countryside. Her daily activity after school, is to go on a rock to listen to some self-constructed radio and watch the stars, but one day this radio is going to give her a music that she never expected. From here on starts the real story, where she will discover a new world and new people.
Moreover, I was strongly surprised
...
to see how the director focused on the landscapes and the discoveries of the new world that Asuna will meet; besides, the duration of the movie is around 2 hours, which could have been shorter.
On the story herself, I would recommend Mr. Makoto Shinkai next time to focus on the past of the characters and explain more in details their personalities or ambitions. As many Japanese anime movies, a part of imagination is kept in the story. The public can meet numerous silent parts (the central figures do not speak a lot), where the actions of the characters explain their believes and situation.
I put a 7/10 for the story.
Regarding the art, I appreciated the realistic style of the landscapes, clouds, (which are strongly shown in this adventure), even characters, to the imaginary style of the elements above nature such as the represented gods that you will encounter. This art brought me a terrible sense of nostalgia into my heart with the charming music, which melodiously accompanied it.
It is my believe there was a good combination of the art used for reality and imagination, nonetheless there could have been a few efforts made on the daily-life's sceneries; instead of putting the main character, Asuna, in the countryside, she could have been in a town or at least discover an underworld where there would be more activities, rather than just landscapes all the time and a few beings.
The last thing, I could say on the art is the conventional design of the characters, which in my opinion could have been different. Asuna, Shin or Shun looked quite similar to the Ghibli's anime heroes.
Furthermore, the background music was fitting for the story and atmosphere; I particularly liked the last song on the generic with the "hello, goodbye, hello" lyrics, who made me feel a certain melancholy on the ending.
In general the music did not especially catch my attention, but was clearly good enough to make the story go on an enjoyable rhythm.
I put an 8/10 for the sound and a 9/10 for the art.
Finally my favorite theme, the characters. My treasured person in this movie was Morisaki. He is the professor of Asuna and is in constant research to bring his wife back to life. Asuna seems to consider him once as her father, but he keeps changing sides, being the good and the bad guy. Nevertheless, he is one of the main figures of the movie and will reveal a terrible past, which can bring the lector to sympathize with him all along the story.
Despite knowing that Asuna lost her father and is living most of the time alone, due to the hard work of her mother, we do not know her ambitions until the end. We do not know her past. It made me uncomfortable and I kept trying to imagine, but I thought the director could have improved this part. Otherwise, the sudden impact to change the side character, from shun to shin, one brother to another, would not have been necessary. It just makes the main plot more complicated and does not bring a suitable feeling to the viewers.
For the characters, I put an 8/10.
Beyond a shadow of doubt, I liked this movie. It tells a good story, combines a great musical score with a stunning art, and you can mostly relax on your sofa to watch it. Have a nice show !

In the first moments of the series, what I automatically enjoyed was the altruistic view of the main character, Natsume Takashi. I had not the feeling of an overwhelming strong, stubborned or desperate human, just a cheerful guy who wants to help any person in danger.
Each episode contains a different story, it brings different aspects of the moral and the relation between humans and youkais. Mostly, Takashi is brought to help and find a solution to coexist with this species, even if he already gets a Youkai living by his side.
Later on, the story continues and you follow the path of this young boy with
...
his fellow companion, Nyanko-sensei. The relationship between those two characters made me laugh a lot. It just brings you a moment of truce in your heart and you would like to see those two arguing again for anything else, to have more fun.
I particularly liked the effervescent colors, along with the gentle soundtrack playing in the background, it just helps cement the feeling that the creators tried to make a memorable background.
The second season of Zoku Natsume made me believe that any kind of creature could live around us, humans, and make us dream that an entire different world is living next to us.
I would surely advise this series to any person, regardless of his age. It brings you harmonious moments and a nice show to enjoy.
