Story: 3/10
This is a very, very, overused, unoriginal, and tired harem story. Harem story is one term, because harem stories can be very interesting and cool. However, this is one that you could get from anywhere else. There isn't anything new, even with this sort of supernatural-twist that comes with every harem series that has no originality to it.
Art: 4/10
Even as a person who doesn't really mind moe, there is moe prevalent throughout all the character designs. But I still wouldn't mind that. In fact, the girls in this series are quite cute. No, what makes this moe different is...nothing. This is art and
...
character design that is indistinguishable from a lot of other series with bishoujo in them. The manga-ka is a former hentai artist, which makes this the least explicit thing that he's done.
Speaking of which, the reason this is decent is because the eye candy is quite good, expected from someone with the manga-ka's credentials.
The fight scenes are poorly constructed; I can barely tell what's going on in one panel or another. Plus, you won't even be interested in the fight scenes because the story is so boring.
Character: 2/10
I can safely say that Yuuto is the first harem protagonist I've seen that I didn't like not because he was a major fucking douchebag (Rin from SHUFFLE! and Makoto from School Days). No, it's just that he's JUST a nice guy. That's it; he doesn't have a lot of personality outside of that. And the density of the character isn't really examined, expanded upon, or played with. Ichika Orimura may be a moron, but his density is massive enough to make him at least passably interesting. That's right; Yuuto is boring enough to reflect poorly on Ichika Orimura, who I have mixed feelings about.
Really, those are the points I have to cover. This series is boring, and you should avoid it if you don't want to be bored. As it is an ecchi harem and moe series, you'll enjoy it even less if you don't like that. In fact, in that case you'll probably hate this series.

Story: 8/10
Despite what Gintama may have you believe, To-Love Ru Darkness is without a doubt a legitimately interesting manga and its story keeps you invested, with good writing to keep you invested. Although this is a stuffed one that can't move forward, with several plotlines going on at the same time and individual chapters dealing only with one (it could probably use a decent trimming of at least some of them), what keeps me reading beyond the T&A is the emotional weight of the story. Unlike a lot of other harem and ecchi series, you are kept invested in what the characters are saying because
...
it has a lot of stuff behind it. You also need it to gain context in the ecchi scenes, because they are usually very connected. The major overall themes are that one can change, no matter who they were in the past and that love, family, and friendship are catalysts for this change. However, when the emotional and thematic weight is lost, I lose my investment. The climax of the first arc is extremely boring and uninteresting because of a lack of this investment. But when it has this emotional weight to the story, it is a highly interesting manga to read. Despite all this, it is still pretty stupid.

This is one of the gutsiest fanservice manga you will ever read, barely short of actual sex and uses a lot of hentai elements. It's incredibly fun to see what Kentaro Yabuki and Hasemi Saki can get past the censors. Sometimes it does push the limit of taste, and one moment is so bad that it immediately lost three points. However, it works with the story because it's not contrived or forced. It never leaves you questioning the in-story logic or point of it. The fanservice is extremely sexy, so it works in that department. Yabuki's art has evolved a lot over the years, and in here it's at it best.
Character: 8/10
The characterization here is strong. Rito Yuuki is really one of the best harem protagonists ever in my opinion because of his legitimate nice guy status. He's thoughtful, dependable, kind, caring, and charismatic. Sometimes these are the tools of his most badass moments, because he gets heart-throb sexy when he's caring-angry. All the other characters are people you care about and well thought-out. They aren't extremely complex characters, but they do have emotions that a reader will care about. Some are more interesting in others. I should also note that save for Ren and Matome, a lot of male background characters are piggish, perverted scumbags. Especially the principal, who you wonder why even still has his job.
Enjoyment: 10/10
This is one of the most fun manga you will ever read. At least I get a kick out of it. It's a great mix of funny, erotic, stupid, and emotional. I cringe, I cry, I laugh, and I get hard. It's just a lot of fun to read.
Overall: 9/10
While it has some small flaws, it's one of the best harem anime out there.

Story: 6/10
You already know the story, but the way it is executed is pretty stupid. In fact, there is a lot of stupid in this, especially in the way fanservice is used. There's a scene that uses fanservice in one of the stupidest things you will ever see outside of a Michael Bay film. If you've seen this series, I think you know what I'm talking about. The most notable thing I can make a connection about about it is the use of a Romero-style outbreak. However, I can say that this story has spot-on pacing. It never feels like it drags on too long.
...
There's also some creepy stuff involving social darwinism and a bus.
Art: 9/10
This is an incredibly well-animated series in a way that makes you ask (at least I asked) "Was there anything else people could throw tons of money behind that season?" This looks excellent all around.
Sound: 4/10
The english dub is amazing...
...as in amazing how often they use foul language. There is a swear or other dirty word about every other sentence. If you don't want that, skip the english and go for the sub.
Character: 3/10
Here is where I have a problem with this anime. The characterization of the female cast is not strong enough to balance out the sexualization and fanservice, resulting in me not taking them seriously as action heroines. Sekirei and Kill La Kill managed to do fanservice-heavy combat this right by having extremely strong characterizations of the female cast.
Enjoyment: 10/10
I had a lot of fun watching this anime. Not because of the fanservice, but because I was just enjoying watching the action and visuals.
