RWBY anime turned out to be somewhat disappointing.

Last ditch to save the dying franchise failed on me. Sloppy pacing, with ok character development. Strange, certainly confusing for newcomers plot, with good animation. This anime was all over the place. As someone who watched the original, but was never a fan of it I wasn't impressed with the overall quality of this anime. Definitely do not recommend it as an entrance to RWBY franchise.

The show basically assumes you're ready to eat up a ton of lore cause it cramped two hours worth of content into first three episodes; after that it started an original arc which ... was just bad and boring. Characters don't have a lot of time to get established, so some ended up being bleak while others drove attention to themselves. The only good thing is probably the animation which is great besides some strange scenes.

Overall a shallow attempt to attract anime fans to watch the original series.

So, I didn't like Vivy, It was just really average…
Story
There's nothing to the story. Time travel concept turns out to be boring, non-important side missions, and most obvious plot-twists.
Inconsistent, episodic structure made me feel like there was no stakes, the anime didn't give me a reason to actually care whether the androids succeed or not.
It was a different plot every few episodes, that way my interest slowly started fading.

Animation is pretty good, WIT studio did a great job with certain fight scenes. I didn't like creepily looking realistic style that they used sometime, but that's depends on the preference.
Art is ok at most, but ... Vivy has the most boring and generic character designs I have seen in a while. Which seems to be excusable, considering that all the main characters are robots. But can you not just recolor hair and eyes and pretend that it is a completely different character. Even humans seems to be the same.

Character
Besides Vivy there's no interesting characters. Episodic structure makes me litteraly didn't care about any of the side characters, cause they absent in the very next episode. And than another character dies I was all like: «Oh, so sad… Wait who are you again?»
Vivy as a character, is actually not static and enjoyable. Especially towards last episodes.
They tried to tackle pretty interesting character themes, but that wasn't done great.

Music is surprisingly good. It was something that they actually used a lot and didn't drop until the end.

Enjoyment
It could have been something more than just a seasonal anime, but too many narrative, convoluted plotline and in my opinion unneeded characters made me feel bored while watching this show. It was an average show which wanted to be something more. It ended and I decided to move on. It didn't left any kind of impact on me sadly.

So, Wonder Egg Priority.
Interesting show to say the least, it's up to interpretation either this show is good or a complete garbage.
Well I will explain to you why this is an outstanding show, the best of winter season 2021.

Story:
Story is pretty simple and you could get it from the premise, but basically it's a bunch of teens fighting against depression and suicidal thoughts in human form.
Every episode is a one week adventures, roughly connected with one another. An evil force is mostly metaphorical, rather than being a real thing, but as show goes on we uncover some stuff in reality also.
As a standalone ... episodes are really good with giving you an important message.

Art is movielike, fight scenes in this show are the best, very colourful and well drawn.
Each character has unique design which in a way represents their personalities. Everything is fluid, backgrounds are well drawn.
Not much to say about it, other than that being an excellent piece of work from the artists.

Sound design are very good, some scenes are silent than it is necessary, OST as a whole is alright. Opening is unique, cause of how quite it is, that actually works perfectly with the saddest episodes, ending is sung by main cast voice actors, song is upbeat and catchy, idk if it fits, but I was ok with it.

Characters.
Well, characters is something why I enjoy this type of shows, and this one doesn't let me down. Each character has a distinct personality and goal, all of the have their own stuff to deal with.
Trauma is real in this show and it making me feel what the characters feel at the moment of time.
Characters progress, and have more development as the show goes on. Slice of life moments are so good, and these heartwarming moments just making me feel even more sad than something traumatic happens to them.

Enjoyment:
You definitely will enjoy this anime if you enjoying weird psychological dramas like Eva, or Madoka Magica. If you are not fan of these shows than you might enjoy it, idk, but I liked that either way.

Overall:
So that just ended on an... ... interesting point, there has to be another season overwise idk what to make of this. I will give it a ten for now and wait for the some announcement from the studio if there is gonna be an additional episodes or not.
*Update so additional special, was comedically bad, but I won't change this review, cause some people seem to like it.
