Overrated Garbage.
Maybe this was as innovative and entertaining in the world of 1995, but this just does not age well in my opinion. The characters are really not that likable and all have their issues. This show is literally just each and one of them crying about their issues with psychedelic imagery like a teenager on the verge of cutting their wrists. I guess it's supposed to appeal to teenagers because this is supposedly normal, but this is just not entertaining. The "thought-provoking" aspects of this show completely felt like a nothingburger and only made me question, "People actually like this shit?".
The
...
fights. The fights have aged like milk. They're short, and really not that interesting. If you wanted to watch some mecha fights, this is not the show to go to. Maybe you can kind of piece together what the angels mean, and the whole plot... but honestly this overthinking is just going make you believe that this show is really cooking up something special for you to have to question just about everything. It's not.
The ending is absolutely abysmal and will confuse most watchers both in art direction and plot. The show attempts to be abstract and expects the audience to interpret it like it is some profound piece of work.
This show is just "modern art" in the form of an anime. It expects a few splatters a paint on a blank canvas ought to sell well to someone stupid enough to pay ridiculous mind to.

This is another isekai trash featuring an OP main character. In my honest opinion, it is one of the better ones I have seen.
If you like "Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, or "Our Last Crusade", this anime is somewhat similar featuring an OP, likeable main character, and his competent counterpart telling a different story. This is similar to other isekai trash featuring an OP main character, but one of the better ones as it suffers a few negatives.
The main character is very likeable, and this anime appears to feature more than "main character is OP, slays everything effortless and either tries
...
to hide it or is oblivious to what he can take down." The main plot is romantically driven, but as a secondary driver... and does not feature a harem. The powerful nature of our character has downsides and makes sense in supporting the main character's motives. I will admit, I was fairly hooked from beginning to end but this anime is not without criticism.
Boushoku no Berserk is a slightly better than average isekai that suffers a bit from pacing and animation. It crams everything together in 12 episodes and it feels criminal as things move way too quickly. Don't know the source material so I am unsure if that is intended or not, but the pace is way too fast, and it shows in certain fights. These fights are mediocre, short lived and often feel skimmed over and unimportant. If you are just craving a power fantasy- this anime has that, but the execution is lackluster compared to the other trash that only feature this aspect.
The story and where it goes over the course of the twelve episodes is actually fairly decent. Not the best, but above average for this genre. As I said before, suffers from pacing so some of the moments that feel like they should have impact are hitting a little weak but I can somewhat overlook that.
The show for the most part delivers what it's viewers want, but the budget is still apparent in this. 7.7/10

Anime with likeable characters that suffers greatly from unsatisfactory ending and pretty much a nonexistent/boring plot.
This anime centers around a fairly well written and competent protagonist. A protagonist who finally gives into his rejection and decides to put his efforts towards other things. He essentially betters himself and in this regard has a great deal of character development. Is it character development, or rather depression or feelings of dejection that make him the 'realist' he now is. However, I feel the english title "The dreaming boy is a realist" is kind of a stupid one. If that was
...
the theme, I really didn't see it often or have it land.
I was interested in this anime to the end, mainly because of the main character... but boy is the plot stinky and pretty boring overall. Everyone is interesting or likeable ( I guess. ) in their own regard, but I feel like they're all under utilized or don't really amount to anything. There's really only three main characters. The love interest that you'll either think is cute and will either like or will hate, the main character Sajotchi, and then the friend that that kind of connects the two.
This anime really makes you question who undergoes the most character development here.
Then all just to fall flat.
I can't recommend it as I think you'll just be wasting your time. If there's hope for a second season then there might be redemption here- but it really didn't hint at one.

Only honesty around these parts...Kazuma carries this show.
I stuck this through because Konosuba is one of my favorite and probably one of the better anime comedies out there. This just wasn't that funny to be honest. Maybe because I haven't seen it in it's dubbed rendition? I doubt, but it's just not the same. This is for Megumin and Yunyun fans, and lays down a bit of backstory for these characters and the crimson demons. This is great and all, but it's not Konosuba without Kazuma to be honest. Kazuma's interactions with the characters in this
...
series MAKES this series what it is. This is foremost a comedy that parodies the isekai genre... but it wasn't that here.
I still gotta give it credit, it does have it's moments but I can't help but just want a sequel to the movie.
To wrap things up, if you liked the comedy and the dynamic between the characters following the main cast of Konosuba, this one just doesn't land as good... BUT if you enjoyed the world and want a bit of a prequel following Megumin as the lead, this can be a fun watch.

This is just another isekai, but while the idea is not unique. I actually find this anime to be quite unique in the genre so let me mention a few things I found this show to differentiate itself from other similar entries.
The show doesn't really elaborate or spend much time on the character's previous life, or modern life. They appear in another world and they don't remember anything. This makes their journey harder as they have to learn about the world and how to survive. I appreciate this approach to an otherwise overused beginning to an isekai.
There are
...
no virtual game UI menus, leveling, experience points, hp points, etc. They do mention levels and skills here and there, but this anime plays it off really good in a natural way in my opinion that I haven't seen elsewhere.
All the characters are likeable, even the one who comes off as supposedly unlikeable, they all have their own personalities. This is really about teamwork. It's about bonding and relying on others, and how to be a good leader. Probably not the best form of media to do that, but it is a theme.
Nah, really though I REALLY liked how realistic they portrayed the progression of these characters picking up RPG classes. In fear of their lives and basic enemies actually having some common sense and a bit of threat is refreshing. Seeing 6 members of a party struggling against a low level goblin really puts into perspective how weak they are but necessary in order to survive in this world. From here on, the show is about the improvement of their party and doesn't center itself around any single character for long. The whole party is fun to follow even if the thief of the group is the main character. It's not really an action show, i'd say more of a drama- but there is action and it is for the most part pretty well animated and good. I also liked the choice of music and OST- however some of the english lyrics are little corny in areas. Otherwise they're bangers.
I didn't have much expectations, and reading some of the reviews kinda lowered them- but yeah... this was a pretty good watch in my opinion. 8.8/10

I've seen the ending on youtube many years ago, always was intrigued but never actually got around to watching it all the way through.
I saw here that this anime has such a low score, and while I can see where some of them are coming from- personally I feel like this entry is a little misunderstood. You're maybe one of the few that immediately got disinterested at the first sign of the main character cheating. I don't think it is fair to rate something low solely because it does not suite your tastes. So I will judge it based on
...
what it's trying to be. The theme of this anime is taking responsibility and for the most part, that is the story it told.
If this anime was an AITA thread on reddit, the consensus would clearly be that ESH except for Kotonoha.
Firstly, Makoto. The main character.
Makoto is a student who is trying to live up his youth, and wants a girlfriend. He gets urges to move quickly, and wants to advance to things more physical and sexual. This is the downfall of Makoto as he once was a nice and caring individual as seen through the memories of all his flings, who develops into someone who is devoured by lust. Kotonoha, his first girlfriend and the start to his story, is a forgiving girl ( way too forgiving smh ) that is very pure, and is unable to satisfy him. However, I do believe Makoto realizes this and doesn't want to hurt her while also pursuing his own personal interests. He refuses to formally put off breaking up with Kotonoha and tries to find roundabout ways of saying he is no longer interested in her due to his sexual desires and pressures that manifested through other girls who were willing to try things with him.
Makoto is not supposed to be a likeable character. He is a character in which you're supposed to see vividly his flaws and the outcome of his actions. There are other characters who share this similarity.
In our main characters: Makoto, Saionji, and Kotonoha. There is so much character development. You see Makoto's downfall to lust.
You see the innocent and pure Kotonoha change. You see Saionji's buildup of jealousy and sorrow eventually throw her overboard to some extremes.
The show knows what it's doing, and while theres a few areas where moments were kinda bland. It for the most part knew what it wanted to do and it shouldn't be faulted for that.
Near the end, I think Makoto started to realize where his actions have taken him when the people around him started to shut him out. As a viewer, I want to believe that he wanted to be better and start anew but his situation with Saionji was preventing that and his mistakes made it so that he was far too gone from salvaging.
To wrap things, there's a lot of moments I thought were really well done with the music choice being very fitting for the scenes they really wanted to emphasize. This isn't something most people will like and watch. It's not something i'm likely to watch again- but it is a story that is unique and isn't told often. The ending is wild, and after the brewing of eleven episodes. It is justified and is the perfect way to hammer in the theme of this anime. Taking responsibility.

This anime sets up so nicely, and will likely have you on the edge of your seat and guessing every episode. Has a bit of everything, but I think that's the downfall of this anime. What presents itself and sets up as a very intriguing mystery with some elements of horror, just doesn't follow through with that and it causes the foundation set up in the first half of the anime to go off the rails. Yes it's still intriguing, and I enjoyed it. (8/10) It's just you'll no doubt be sighing to yourself at some
...
points, or thinking how differently this could have played out.
There's a few inconsistencies here and there, but overall I enjoyed it.

This is a solid underrated anime and for the quality, I was genuinely surprised and hooked over an 11 year old show. There is genuinely more trash that aires every season of anime that gets more recognition than this, I want to make clear that "trash" like this is to be appreciated.
This isn't popular and won't ever be popular. If you like watching lower budget shows that are more niche and likely only put out to promote the manga ( like this one ). You will like this. If you have seen Tomodachi Game and liked that, this is
...
a great recommendation.
Some drawbacks in the show I would like to point out is that the pacing is just a tad fast, and the first episode isn't really all that exciting. The "virtual game" that is referenced a lot in the anime kind of takes me out of the show and feels a little forced or far fetched, but its not a deal breaker. Some side character backstories feel pretty on-the-spot as well. There's a lot of "coincidental" moments and I think comes off as bad writing, but that's kinda whatever. Just nitpicking.
Character development is good, and flow of things just feels right. Something is always happening, not really a wasted episode in it's span of 12. Story is good for one season, but isn't a definite finish- even 11 years later.. no sign of a second season. So do not expect a conclusive ending, but it was a nice ending for one season.
Gonna give it an 8/10. If you watch a lot of anime to kill- good or bad. This one is pretty solid.

This is better than a lot of the garbage filler crap that happens to pollute every anime season. Examples being... The Greatest Demon Lord Reborn as a Typical Nobody, The Irregular at Magic High School, The Misfit of Demon King Academy, The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest, Tsukimichi -moonlight fantasy-, Wise Man's Grandchild, etc.
And that's my opinion.
This show happens to have the humor, the likeable characters, and is overall fun. The only downsides is the plot is and pacing is kind of stinky.
Fingers crossed and hopes for a season 2 to help ease out and elaborate more on
...
the story but extremely doubtful.

Would I ever recommend this? Nah prob not.
Starts out kind of alright, you think you have an idea of where this anime is going and wants to go... the dude just wants a friend, right? Probably more if I had to guess...
Yeah no, forget all that. Let's turn this into a generic, MC is OP as fuck, type of show and have it happen in an academy setting. Haven't seen this before. Then don't even get me started on the third set of events that they happen to cram into these 12 episodes. ( It
...
was more interesting to give it some credit though. )
There's really not anything new or interesting to see here so I can't recommend it as watching this was just something to do as I ate some food. Could it be better than some other shows that are similar to this? Perhaps, but they're all kind of garbage in my opinion.
If you even remotely liked this, I would recommend Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor.
