If I had to sum up this anime, it'd be good supplemental material, not so good on it's own.
BlazBlue as a series draws it's strength from it's infinite possibilities and multiple timelines. However, this anime doesn't really take note of that and feels more of a rush to get the main story beats crammed into 12 episodes. A lot of the characters who aren't the main four or so probably feel like strange one-offs to anyone who's going into this anime without knowing anything about this series.

The number one thing to keep in mind for this series and getting into it is knowing it's short and ends abruptly.
The series has an interesting plot and I think overall, it's a very fun journey. The characters in this series are very solidified and likeable, and the art is lovely as well. However, the series struggles with pacing at points. I think a big plot-relevant reveal does happen a bit too early, especially since it's in the first 1/3 approximately of the series. Let me first off say, it's better probably to not act like I did and read the manga first. However, even as someone unfamiliar with the previous content, watching this was enough to get me invested into looking into the manga and read it. It's fun and endearing. The plot of this OVA is a nice slice of life with a cohesive plot and fun moments. I think the animation is really nice and comforting in a nostalgic way, and in general it's a worthwhile watch.
