Both are fast, action-based mangas which revolves around mainly one characters, but also provides information on the supporting characters. The plot isn't very "deep" with any extreme twists, but there are some dark secrets that the characters have. Jackals is based more on gang-fights, but is mixed with a "fantasy" feeling that is created by the characters' outfits and weapons. The style has a old-fashioned feeling to it, like the setting was in the 1900s when they still used cannons. But, there were also bombs, and very ancient weapons like the katana. It is more of a mix of cultures and times. Arachnid, on the other hand, was set in a more modern setting. The main character was a high school girl when she was introduced to assassination. One of the bigger differences was that in Arachnid, it was a 1 versus a group and in Jackals, it was group versus group. However, both of the main characters posessess a I-want-to-be-alone feeling, and that really ensures that at one point or another, the characters were forced into coorporation for a "common goal". A trend in both mangas that the characters had "nicknames". Also, the main characters all had a past which had influeneced them to make the choices that they did. In conclusion, both are really gory-if you enjoy people being sliced in half or getting their heads severed-then this is the manga for you! Overall, I found these two enjoyable, so have fun reading~!
