Good Lord I forgot how silly this Anime was, I watched it 15 years ago and I guess I was distracted by all the s*x and violence but WOW is this Anime slow, I'm on a rewatch binge and playing at 1.5x speed and it's just awful , I'm not even sure what the message is supoosed to be 'people are terrible' comes to mind but I don't like any of these characters and they all stand there with Guns in Mortal danger and just not aiming their weapons and the 'Drama' is dragged out for ... so long who cares what happens to them. The real intrigue is 'What is Gantz and why?', which I don't ever expect to be answered. I recall seeing Gantz-O and thinking it wasnt too bad and there are even 3 LA Movies, I dunno I guess its just another terrible 'Kings Game' anime x

Given the title I expected this to be some sort of time travel hopping show but it wasn't and the series is PAINFULLY slow and that was with me Literally wactching at 1.5x speed. Cartoonishly silly bad guy, no explanation of how 'the machine worked' could they not just go somewhere else instead of some vaugely explained war, perhaps not recruit children to be soldiers.

The overall vibe I got from this show is that it should have just been a movie, It really has that 90's Anime feature with weird unexplained concepts, I dare say this could Easily be edited down into 1h 15min movie ... and lose absoluetly nothing. I didn't hate this show usually I will drop one after 3 episodes but I hung on for some explanation and world building .. and there isnt any.

If you like your protaganist to be a one note wet blanket this is the show for you

Japanese Anime has come a long way when it comes to it's LGBT storytelling and I find this one frustrating as it really rides the line on any overall point that is being made. 'Otokonoko' basically means cross-dresser or feminine male, but it gets really close to being a transgender narritive, Does he want to Live as a Boy or a Girl ? Is he Gay or Straight ?

Felt a bit padded with another characters side story and repeatedly cuts away to the 'cheap animation' chibi cutscenes constantly.

I just think It could have been a really compelling romanace story, but as we all ... know if there are two love interests, nobody wins.

Ends pretty cut and dry all tied up in a neat little bow, I don't expect a sequel to this, Overall It's just Cute

Never before has an Anime character been so close to my heart.. It's also really funny

What we have here is a main character with chronic fatigue syndrome and a best friend who dotes on him and enables his apathetic lifestyle so faithfully, honestly this is the Shoenen_Ai relationship I've been waiting for.

All of the other characters are likeable and no-one over-stays their welcome, I was a little worrried in episode 2 when the typical short, high pitched, energetic, childlike girl shows up but it worked well and she isnt onscreen enough ... to become obnoxious. Along with her is the typical tough 'delinquent' girl and typical smart girl putting on a pretty girl facade. There is nothing new about these typical characters but they are used well.

The biggest downside to this anime is that it is far too short and there isn't any character arc for anyone, there's no backstory or depth to them, with Tanaka dozing most of the time at school I wondered what his actual grades were like.

The pacing of this show is like Tanaka himself and it remains consitant in a really good relaxing way. The music is also very chilled. I'm not really impressed with the English Dub, Ohta seems a bit louder than his Japanese VA.

It's a few years old now but the Manga has only recently finished so I'd love to see more of this.
