Both series feature a loli heroine who has otherworldly powers, and a plot involving supernatural elements in everyday life, although Tena on S-String is less intense than Shakugan no Shana.

GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class

These two manga are both random, lighthearted, cute, high school girl slice-of-life comedies. The mood of these manga are very similar and sometimes even the characters. Also, Azumanga Daioh has a broad, random range of subject matter while GA is more art-based, so the change of subject matter can be refreshing.

Yoki, Koto, Kiku.

These two titles don't seem very similar, but when I read Yoki Koto Kiku, it feels somewhat like reading Hayate. Both of these titles have comedy, although Yoki Koto Kiku has a dark type of comedy, and they both involve rich kids with some financial matter; a debt in Hayate and an inheritance matter in Yoki Koto Kiku. But the biggest similarity may be just the randomness in each of them.

Both series feature a cute little girl who winds up at an unusual school for students with special abilities, although the schools themselves are immensely different from eachother. While Gakuen Alice has a dark side that slowly reveals itself, Hollow Fields is much darker, sometimes even almost Gothic-like. Hollow Fields also has a much faster pace.

Hitsugikatsugi no Kuro.: Kaichu Tabi no Wa

These two series aren't very similar story-wise, and compared to Aria, Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro is slightly gloomier and more humorous.(Yes, it's a paradox, yet it's true) But they both provide insights on small aspects of life and give off a charming, sentimental feeling.

These two anime are totally different in story and number of episodes. But if you're like me, (That is, you enjoy comedies with light action scenes and you're also a fan of insanely strong heroes with blue hair) then you should check out both of these shows.
