Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge
|
Welcome to the NHK! and Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge both contain unique characters which develop throughout the anime. Welcome the the NHK! happens to deal with the hikikomori as the protagonist with a female character that reaches out to "save" him. In this same way, Arakawa deals with Recruit, heir to the Ichinomiya group, who believes he must go through life without ever becoming indebted to anyone in any way. Nino, the female character, asks him to become her lover after he ended up owing a debt to her after she saves his life. Both anime series have the male protagonist change over time and develop new ideals in their lifestyles.

Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge

Hiroshi Kamiya voices both protagonists (Recruit in Arakawa and Nozomu in SZS). Both are comedies and very random with highly unique characters. Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge deals with a variety of diverse people living under a bridge, while SZS focuses on the classroom (where hardly any teaching gets done- more distracted rants than anything else). Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge is a lot more focused on subject matter than SZS, which tends to highlight on a vast scale with issues such as politics, stereotypes, other anime, complexes, and such.

Skip Beat!

Skip Beat and Full Moon wo Sagashite both are about the idol world, romance, comedy, and are both a shoujo anime. Skip Beat is not as lengthy and doesn't have fillers like Full Moon wo Sagashite, which is a plus. Full Moon wo Sagashite is directed toward children, but Skip Beat is more for the young adult. Another similarity is that the main characters both have love issues.

Kodomo no Omocha's lead character and Skip Beat!'s lead character both have a firey attitude and seek revenge (Kodomo no Omocha's lead character eventually stops seeking revenge) of a male character. Kodomo no Omocha's character at one point says, "If I don't get revenge on him, I'll go insane~!" while Skip Beat!'s lead character has her little Pandora's box of hauntings. They are both also in the show biz world.

Gake no Ue no Ponyo

Both are very kawaii and directed by the famous Hayao Miyazaki. Castle in the Sky and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea both have that classical feel and same art style with the two lead characters as a boy and a girl. Ponyo by the Cliff by the Sea is a bit more on the childish side, while Castle in the Sky has a deeper meaning and story.

Kodomo no Omocha

Both animations are comedy/shoujo/romance (with the romance being not-so-romantic). Kodomo no Omocha OVA's lead character is a TV star on the show "Child's Toy" while the lead character from Kirarin Revolution becomes an idol and sings for her career. Both characters have love problems (like most shoujo animes) that are drawn out to an almost unbearable aspect.

Both lead characters are TV idols which have love problems. Full Moon wo Sagashite takes a more conservative and serious tone, while Kodomo no Omocha OVA is more comical and less deep. Both are tear jerkers at times, and it is easy to get attatched to the characters.

Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Welcome to the NHK! and Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei involve a rather strange lead character that think in "unique" ways. The random insecurities of conspiracy and conformity are themes throughout both of the series. Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is more random and throws light on many political and misconceptional deeds while Welcome to the NHK! revolves around a smaller area.

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ~Hachiyou Shou~, like Hanasakeru Seishounen, revolves around one female lead character that is surrounded by bishounen (it's a reverse-harem, after all). The characters feel similar in both personality and physical characteristics; however, there is more bishounen, adventure, and story plot in Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ~Hachiyou Shou~ and more romance in Hanasakeru Seishounen.
