Comedy and anime have never really been a thing that I connect too well with but GTO really worked for me. One of the things I appreciate most about this show is how they really don't hold back. It's pretty bold to make your main character as awful a person as Onizuka is. I mean the dude only became a teacher to look at girls, he's a former gang member, and his sense of human empathy is quite questionable at times. Even with all that being said this shows unrelenting and massively successful absurdness makes him a likable character along with the fact that he ...

Well, I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed. As someone who has previously enjoyed Shonens such as Naruto, HxH, Dragon Ball, etc., I was pretty confident I would also be a fan of Demon Slayer. I was wrong. The story is about as basic as it comes and the same can be said about the characters. Tanjiro, the protagonist, has borderline no personality and there's really nothing to him except for the fact that he's talented at everything for some unexplained reason and a good person which makes for a pretty one-dimensional and boring main character. Incredibly well done and faithful adaptation.

If I'm being honest I've always preferred the style of 80s/90s anime over the more modern stuff. Sure, there is infinitely more detail and room for creativity but I just find the style more interesting and it reminds me of the times when I used to watch the second half of Dragon Ball Z reruns while waiting for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to come on as a kid. (I guess I should be glad I didn't ever accidentally watch any Berserk reruns as a kid) Despite my feelings towards older animation, I was a bit nervous about how Berserk ...

It's very common for movies based on TV shows to end up feeling like an extra long episode and this is certainly not an exception. However, this movie mostly succeeds because the solo-episode format of the series allows for this to tell its own quality story without feeling too out of place. With that being said, I do think that this story, despite its quality, could have been told in 2 or maybe 3 episodes of the show rather than a full two-hour long movie, and it doesn't have quite the same seamless pacing the show does.

Still waiting on an Ein solo movie though.
