This show presents sexual assault about as well as hentai. It's just so bad that I found the show to be completely unwatchable after episode 5, which is a shame because the rest of the show is pretty good. The SA in episode 1 was pretty pointless and gratuitous, but at least it didn't have the hentai shit where people like getting raped which is what happens in episode 5. If you can tolerate that garbage, then great there's a lot to like about this show; if not, then skip.

The story section is full of spoilers so if you want to avoid those my TL;DR review is:
Story boring and no interesting character interactions or growth, though the art is really good. Worth watching if you want to see the pretty fights, but the $15 I spent on a ticket didn't seem worth it. Art & Sound- The art is great, but you knew that; in particular everything involving Rengoku was sick. The sound effects were really nice, but I found the music to feel kinda generic. I have no clue why people think this show is well written, or why they think the characters are deep. The two main characters(Thorfinn and Askeladd) are both some of the edgiest edgelords to ever exist in anime. Personally I find their edginess to be so much that it becomes ridiculous and comedic, and while that does make me enjoy the show, it doesn't make it good. You're probably better off just rewatching konosuba. They've repeated the same "gag" multiple times every episode and as we all know: if a joke was funny the first time, it'll be even funnier the twelfth. The mc is just a generic op protag except with some wacky twist that will somehow make the show not inane garbage. Kemono Michi(another show this season) also has an op protag, but they make his wacky twist actually change the plot from standard isekai. Watch this if you're the kid of person who has watched every episode of family guy and still finds it funny.

I recommend watching this film more than any other anime, which is why it's such a shame that the story and writing are so meh. This anime gives an experience that is entirely irreplicable(at least so far). It shows the bounds of what animation can be; it expresses blood-pumping adrenaline and speed better than anythingelse. I wish I could give this masterpiece a 10, but it's just too held back by poor writing. If Takeshi Koike ever gets the opportunity to create something like this again, it'll probably be one of the best pieces of media ever made.
