(This review contains a review for season 2 as well because I just don't feel like writing two)
I felt an incredible need to write this review solely because of all of the poor reviews on this show. This show will forever have an incredibly special place in my heart and I genuinely don't understand what it is about this show that people don't like. The animation is astounding and beautiful, there is rarely any mocap and there is never CGI. If there was, I sure as hell didn't notice. The score and soundtrack to this show is impeccable with sweeping orchestral pieces

As I am a resident haver of not sex, it may not come as a surprise that I absolutely love substance-less romance gushy wholesome stuff. This is no exception. I absolutely loved every second of this show and found myself audibly laughing at jokes in this show and feeling genuine hype for some plays made by the Nakanos. I am not giving this season a 9 because it is an innovative and jaw dropping masterpiece, but I am giving it a 9 because it absolutely delivered on expectations for it's genre and expectations set by it's first season. This season of Re:zero was incredibly highly anticipated and In my opinion it did not fail to deliver. This season was jam packed full of incredible character development, incredible storytelling, and a bunch of moments long time fans of the show definitely appreciated. However, The soundtrack, while full of incredible songs, just felt off when played behind scenes of the show. The themes of electronic and heavy rock felt out of place in this fantasy type series. One word. Immaculate. This movie took the universe that the original series takes place in and did something with it I could have never imagined possible. I'm talking I want to eat your pancreas levels of sad... I couldn't even cry, all I could do was stare at my monitor in complete disbelief and awe. This movie took the universe that the original series takes place in and did something with it I could have never imagined possible. If you love wholesome films that tug at your heartstrings and make you cry like a newborn, this is the film for you. 10/10

Do bot let the name fool you. I went into this show expecting a light gushy romance anime. While that was definitely part of this show, It's robust storytelling and incredible character development is not something to cast off. It took a lot of cues from "Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions" in my opinion, the way the romance was played out and how other characters revolved around it was breathtaking.
