Interseting, short musical pilots. Little Nemo is directly influenced by Moebius' concept art and Sagittarius looks like European scifi comics from the time, like Heavy Metal.

Watch a seemingly untalented girl get coached to greatness. Unlike Aim for the Top, Aim for the Ace show this journey in great detail and with a good amount of shoujo drama.

Two gory, erotic, psychedelic Monster-in-Human-Disguise stories, directed by Yuasa Masaaki. Easiest recommendation in my life.

If you enjoying seeing post-apocalyptic wastelands in style reminiscent of Moebius, take a look at No. 5. The stories and characters a very different and No. 5 prefers deserts, surrealism and action to flying and the jungle.

Ai City

Ai City is very much proto-Akira and probably influenced Akira in some places. They even share the voice actress for most important female characters (Kei and K2), animators (like Shinya Ohira) and production companies (Magic Bus and Trans Arts Co). Ai City is a furious chase through a cyberpunk city with lots of trippy imagery. What it lacks in music it makes up for with dazzling colors and an even more incomprehensible storyline, although it does have an more conclusive ending. I also like to call it B-movie-Akira, because it is much more cheesy, less gritty and sounds very 80s. Which can be a plus, just in case you don't like your cyberpunk getting to dark. It is definitely a must watch for Akira lovers.

Dragon's Heaven

Remember how the games were heavily inspired by Moebius' Arzach? And Moebius even drew the cover art for the game? And then the anime ended up looking nothing like it? Well, Dragon's Heaven actually looks like Moebius and it's quite fun for a 20 min mech anime.

Dragon's Heaven

If you like anime inspired by Moebius art, you should check out both. Nausicaä is definitely the better one, but for a 20 minutes OVA, Dragon's Heaven ain't bad. And nobody is going to make a mecha anime with that art style anytime soon.

Both are sports and seinen anime that revolve around the characters. Though Giant Killing isn't as character focused and doesn't feature an interesting art style.
