Alright, i think i will write a review for this since no one has written one yet, so here goes.
Variante is a horror sci-fi manga that all horror manga lovers will want to read(though i personally just read it because it involved a cute girl, lol). It involves a normal 16 year old girl whose life is thrown into chaos as one day her family is attacked by a mysterious monster. Her parents are killed but she somehow manages to survive the attack...even though she had apparently died from it.
Story: 9/10
Despite the gorge and bloody content that is in this manga, it still manages to
...
get a great story to be told to go along with the horror content. The majority of the manga revolves around a horrific creature called chimera. A chimera, is a being who has many different cells from different creatures all living in it's body at once, and can involve a human possessing mutated parts of creatures, or even other humans. The manga explores the morality of chimeras, and killing them, through the main characters' feelings as the manga progresses; eventually revealing their origin. As the public starts growing ever-suspicious, and internal struggle for control of chimera ensues in the government; the manga comes to a explosive (literally, read the manga and you'll know) end. Everything involving the chimera research is destroyed, and the main character manages to find happiness in the end, despite what she went through.
Art: 9/10
This manga is one of the better well-drawn mangas i've seen. Facial features on characters, such as the ears, nose, and mouth, are drawn in more detail. And the artist also apparently did not omit any details at all...in all of the gore scenes you can clearly see body parts and internal body structures (like the spine if someone gets beheaded) very clearly when they are shown. Thus, i think the art is very well done for a horror manga.
Character: 8/10
Character development in this manga is decent. The main character started out as only a normal 16 year old girl, who was suddenly thrown into a mess which resulted in her foster parents' death, her own death, and then her returning to life with a strange left arm. It turns out that her left arm is actually a part of a chimera, and the government agency which captured her forces her to use it to kill and capture other chimera or she would be sentenced to death as a test subject. Through the rest of the manga, she deals with psychological issues such as her reason to keep on living, the chimera she kills actually being humans, and that she is a monster(literally, in the case of her left arm) who only serves to kill. All this is a bit too much for a normal 16 year old girl to handle, but she eventually manages to deal with it and find happiness in the end.
Enjoyment: 8/10
You'll find the most enjoyment out of this if you enjoy gore and very disgusting mutant-style monsters. But i'd say that most people will be able to enjoy this anyway. This manga has a interesting story, mystery, drama, and will keep most people wanting to read it to the end to find out everything about the situation in the manga. I also think this manga is enjoyable because it is only 19 chapters, and you won't get bored before you finish it.
Overall: 9/10
i'm not a fan of horror manga usually, but this manga had a great story. It had drama, wass concise, and kept me excited until the very end. I also liked how everything worked out end the end for aiko, even though she basically was forced to become a murderer and even though everyone she cared about died.
Great manga overall, read it if you have time, its not long.

Before anyone reads this manga, you should know that the "Seinen" and "drama" category for this manga really means what it means: There is some very disturbing issues in this manga that might even make older guys flinch. Do NOT READ IF YOU DISLIKE LOLI. (and i mean even disliking it a little bit. Like, when i read this, i was feeling weird and im usually ok with Loli but, this isnt loli-comedy, this is...more disturbing).
Story: one of the reasons the story is decent is because of it's structure: at the start of the manga, the story is told directly by the main character (ikeuchi)
...
in first person, as he describes the situation, and what disturbing event took place. This later shifts to become like reading a normal manga (just viewing what is happening), but shifts back and forth for a while in this manner.
The actual content of the story involves a lot more than the synopsis describes: Betrayal, Tragedy (in ikeuchi's view), despair, forgiveness, and what it means to be a family. Not just Loli (although it is one issue used, it should not be primarily focused on).
Art: The artwork for this manga is decently drawn, and all the characters look pretty cute too (like in any romance manga). If you prefer manga will decent looking characters, this manga will do.
Character: Like was mentioned before, the main character actually tells us his story from the beginning, meaning you get to see and feel what the main character feels all that more. As the story progresses, more and more is shown about ikeuchi and the other characters (each of their individual stories are told one time or another). And, they are not exactly what you may expect them to be: Minami is not the innocent little sister, kanda is not the reliable and responsibly best friend, and ikeuchi does not truly know what it means to be in a family.
Enjoyment: To be honest, in order to actually enjoy this manga, you have to suffer a little bit from it first. (there is shock content that involves loli, and you also have to read for a while in first person, most of which is about the main character's anguish and despairing situation). However, my final impression of this manga's enjoyment factor was that it was decent and unique: in the end, the characters are able to find peace with themselves.
Overall: This is a decent manga to read, it is short and it can make a huge "impact" on you. It is a good break from normal lovey-dovey romance genre manga and truly has shocking drama in it. However, this manga should not be read if you dont like having your emotions running loose or if you dont like Loli. Otherwise it is a good read.

Story:
Ayu Mayu is a really good quick-read ecchi/comedy/romance manga, in which the main character Yousuke tries to find his long separated little sister, but faces many obstacles along the way. (including his growing taboo relationship with his sisters, the return of a girl who loved him since childhood, and even a ghost cat...in addition to his normal problems which he causes for himself).
But The story isnt a really serious one, you wont feel too emotional from reading it, and it is short and doesnt drag on for too long. You will enjoy it if you are looking for a calm, funny romance manga with some
...
ecchi.
Art:
The art is pretty well suited for the type of manga that it is: Super-cute, large-eyed manga girls that are good to look at. No particular shocking pictures drawn, nor ugly characters drawn. All characters are good to look at, while keeping with the comedy aspect of the manga. Also contains a lot of ecchi (never hurts to have ecchi, heh).
Character:
The characters are made to suit the story pretty well: 2 sisters, A kind and forgiving hot sister, and a cute sister that beats up Yousuke for his pervertedness; and a perverted brother (Yousuke) who gets to activate super-powers that only perverted brothers can use.
There isnt much character development, but the manga is reasonably short and concise, and the characters' personalities fit them well in their interactions with other characters, and in creating funny and ecchi moments.
Enjoyment:
Overall, i enjoyed this manga quite well. It was a relaxing read that was enjoyable but did not drag on for too long (its only 29 chapters) and thus did not really bore me like other manga of the same type may. (like if its like over 100 chapters).
Overall:
This is the manga to read if you like a relaxing romance manga that is funny and has ecchi. IMO its better than most manga of the same genre because of its size: You get a simple, easy-to-follow story with eye-candy characters, while not being dragged through endless chapters concerning how the man male character lives his ecchi life.
Great read if you are looking for a break from other genres of manga, and like a ecchi/comedy/romance manga with better flow and continuity.

One way i find my manga is through the reccomendations section of a manga i already read (and enjoyed). This manga was the recommendation of a recommendation (i typically dont read horrors, lol). Anyway, this manga is a good break to any other type of manga (unless its already horror your reading). A very MYSTERIOUS (in the good way) and yet DISTURBING manga at the same time.
Story:
Jisatsu Circle is a manga that truly shows what girls go through sometimes, with a lot of gore and body parts added into the mix. (as you will soon see when you read it *winks). Like most horror manga,
...
it will start out with a massive shock factor that will horrify the reader into think "hey? WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? and try to read on". And there are many twists in the story, leading the reader to falsely suspect people. And some freaky un-explained occurrances.
Mainly focuses on suicide, girls' lives (what ppl dont know), gore, and cult.
DO NOT READ IF YOU CANT TOLERATE EXTREME GORE, even i (who i think can stand most shock factors, flinched a bit after viewing it in the first chapter :/ ).
Art:
The characters in this manga are drawn in an entirely different style than what most ppl who read mangas are used to. I must say, this is one of the only manga whose characters actually might look like real life ppl (the eyes are smaller, not all girls are lovey dovey and cute). For most people who like cute manga girls with large eyes and stuff, this manga might not seem appealing in this way, but the art is unique in this way and suits this manga well.
Character:
There is a lot of character information, and the main character Saya Kota develops very well in this manga. The manga is designed so that it is mostly told from a third person's point of view: Saya Kota's friend Kyoko. IMO the characters are very well explained in this manga, about how they came to be. Kyoko shares her memories of Saya from even when they were children, and how tragedy afflicted her friend. In the end, Kyoko is finally able to reach Saya just a bit, but it is too late...and the circle (or shall i say cycle) of horror continues.
Enjoyment:
Most ppl would enjoy the story more than the gore IMO. The story (along with explicit pictures shown) will make you feel horror, sadness, intensity, shock, and sometimes even disgust. But there are many twists, and you'll want to keep reading to find out the whole mystery of the story.
Overall:
Again, DO NOT READ THIS MANGA IF YOU CANT STAND GORE, otherwise it is a great manga, and is concise. Shows very well what girls may be suffering through, and has shock content and mystery to keep the reader on edge and the pages flippin.
