Both main characters are thrown into a battle involving the supernatural, and must fight in order to protect innocent people who are inevitably caught up in the conflict. Both have to deal with moral dilemmas of what is right and wrong, how far should one go to protect strangers, and the purpose to fight. In both anime other characters challenge the MC's way of thinking, as every character attempts to progress his or her agenda by killing his or her enemies. As both anime are action anime, one would enjoy both series for their great fights and duels between either servants or parasites, although F/sn: UBW has the superior animation by far. While both have dark themes, the serious action is often juxtaposed with carefree, peaceful school and family life as well as romance.
