This show is refreshing.
No beating around the bush for the two mains to get together. Runa and Ryuto don't seem like they fit together and the story knows they don't. Yet it highlights positive moments that could come from that. They learn from each other: Runa learns to respect Ryuto's boundaries and Ryuto learns to communicate better instead of speculating (which is what leads to countless misunderstandings in other romances).
Yes, there's a darker side to this anime. Runa's boyfriends have not treated her well - but the show doesn't beat you over the head with it. Runa is flawed and she's balancing trust
...
with what she's learned from her past experience. In a sea of many romances that either drag on, explore dark themes, or frustrate viewers with stupid choices, this gem shines. For those who want something like Scum's Wish or Domestic Girlfriend, this is not the show for you. But if you want a happier, more efficient show that explores any character from any of those shows wanting to find actual true love and happiness, then this is the show.
She is Koko from Golden Time, but without Ghost Banri. She is Marin Kitagawa from My Dressup Darling if she and Gojo started dating.
Technically, this show is nothing to write home about. There's no impressive visuals and music is pretty bland. But the characters were too well written for me to not enjoy the show overall.
