agree with chilneun.
If the story sticked with the mental breakdown it would kinda suck because you start reading expecting a romcom and then the story starts being a psychological horror, but it wouldn't be as bad as the actual ending and some readers could enjoy the mental breakdown too. Or if instead of the mental breakdown it just sticked with the romcom thematics it would be just what everyone expected and it wouldn't be bad at all.
Btw i guess the author couldn't continue the manga and that's why he made this shitty ending, but i can think of some other endings that would
