Beforehand, I would like to declare my appreciation to all the project staff members, without you none of this would be possible and your efforts were well-known. Thanks in advance!
In this warm darkness, what adventures await us?
Made in Abyss, a work of the highest technical and narrative level; I come through this review to expose my experience with this adaptation.
History - 10/10
The strongest point of this work.
Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou maintains the same high standard of narrative quality as the previous adaptations, an emphasis on worldbuilding that, while not having much focus in this arc, is splendid. The whole atmosphere presented in the

sixth layer, its fauna, its dangers, everything is very well presented and developed, a solid content.
The season begins with the absence of the trio of protagonists (Riko, Reg and Nanachi), we are introduced to a new and completely different cast, the Ganja Squad, characters from the past that will later be fundamentally necessary for the development of the plot.
After a brief introduction to the sixth layer, our characters are taken to a village inhabited only by hollows, the season will be centered on this environment and will have its entire plot developed based on its creation. As the episodes go by, we are presented with the connection between the Ganja Squadron with the creation of the village, its mysteries are being solved and the main points are interconnected, all this with mastery and with a great plot.
An arc that will bring mysteries, feelings, meaning of value, harrowing moments, sadness and, above all, a great adventure.
Characters - 9/10
With a captivating and distinguished cast being featured, adventures won't just be limited to the main trio; the characters throughout the series are properly developed, the viewer can get attached to them, develop empathy to understand their pain, their joys and their bonds. I would like to highlight the genius behind the three sages, each with unique personalities and philosophies that differ as the story progresses and its plot based on suffering.
Now going back to the main trio, in this arc the characters are separated for part time, and each one has to come up with resolutions to their own problems; in this scenario, there is a necessary development of Nanachi, who had not yet freed himself from Mitty, the characters' resolution of distressing situations are well explored throughout the arc.
And above all, they are just kids, their thoughts and actions match the decisions made throughout the episodes.
Last but not least: Faputa, the princess of the hollows. Faputa, a kind, spiteful, charismatic and VERY powerful girl. Her whole character build is beautiful, it was an honor to see all her duality, her motivations and finally see her deciding her own worth, over the course of a new adventure.
Art/Production - 9/10
As expected, Kinema Citrus and the entire anime staff did an excellent job. The designs are still beautiful, polished, but the visual highlight of the work is certainly the backdrops, which are still detailed and very well done.
With a new layer being explored, it takes a lot of effort on the part of the sets, everything to involve the viewer and guarantee the unique atmosphere of the world, and the staff does it perfectly, the sets are breathtaking, everything very unique and creative. , an aspect that gives a majestic air to the work.
The 2D kept the level, consistent and efficient, but throughout the season 3D (CGI) was used, I'm not a big fan of CGI, its use didn't please me, but as the episodes went by, the acceptance also came, Majikaja and Belaf turned out really nice with the CGI, but that only goes for the two of them. The CGI isn't bad and it's well used, long cuts, good use of shadows, everything matters when it comes to masking the CGI, but it can still be seen as a nuisance throughout the season.
Sound - 10/10
KEVIN PENKIN. Made in Abyss wouldn't be what it is without the help of its impeccable soundtracks, for dramatic moments, for happy moments, for tension, all songs carry deep feelings, you get emotional just listening to them, the soundtracks are a very strong point of the work, and a style that you won't find in any other.
The efforts put in by each Voice Actor really made a difference in the anime, Misaki Kuno in particular, her performance brought me to tears, her significant effort improved my experience by 500%, I am eternally grateful.
Enjoyment - 10/10
A great direction in charge of a good plot made this anime much more attractive than it originally would have been, the episodes are not boring, it's a lot of fun to watch, from the beginning to the conclusion. Many questions answered, more doubts arising, this work never ceases to surprise with its ability to expand its world. I wasn't ready to watch the last episode, I didn't want this adventure to come to an end, the anime did well to hold me down for twelve non-stop episodes.
Made in Abyss is my favorite piece of media, it's a work that has positively influenced my life and I couldn't be happier with this adaptation, everything proceeds as it should, a work to be remembered.

This review has some important spoilers from the film.
Oh my God, this film is a direct continuation of the anime and did not disappoint at all. The direction is incredible and has not lost any of its quality. The introduction of new characters was very well executed and all were memorable and unique. History: 10/10 It remains incredible as in the first season, many questions are answered, although many new ones arise. A fifth layer is super interesting, very well explored and very dangerous, it is finally explained how it is done on a white, or the procedure is insane and strange, but still very surprising, it ... Before I start my review, I have to apologize for my bad English. The movie comes to finish the story, and to answer many questions of the first season, all on the movie is good, animation, sound, story, and the characters development. Art: 10/10 This is (in my opinion) the busiest anime in Kyoto Animation, but there were no inconsistencies, in the fight scenes the animation was impressive and left nothing to be desired. I also wanted to highlight the expressions that the characters emitted, everything was so detailed and incredible, that I could not fail to mention. Characters: 9/10 The characters have a ... |
