After growing interested in the show from seeing online posts about it, I decided to check Fate/Apocrypha out and finished viewing all 12 available episodes on Netflix at the time of writing this. Fate/Apocrypha has elements of a good story in it, however they are executed rather poorly. The main problem with the show is the fact that it does not introduce characters properly and has its story broken up into sections instead of following a narrative. This disjointed form of telling the story (jumping from one character arc to the next) leads to me not caring or forming a connection with any of the ... characters in the story. The characters in Fate/Apocrypha don't really stand out from one another as characters aren't really given a personality besides the infamous Astolfo, who serves as comic relief and brings heart to the story. Story elements such as "noble phantasms", the homunculus, and even the main story device, "The Holy Grail War" aren't fully described to viewers. Random fan service moments and unimportant characters (as of episode 12) are thrown into the show as well. With forgettable music (especially an intro that seems to be clashing instruments) and bland backgrounds, this show doesn't live up to its expectations.
