Both are animes about the duet/protagonist meeting new people in hope to finish their mission, the characters have tragic backgrounds and they usually have to face them somehow. The characters usually have fantastic/supernatural powers, which obviusly they use in their fights and the actions scenes, but there are a lot of dramatic scenes which not involved them, i think if you're into series about supernatural beings with tons of drama you're gonna enjoy both shows

The cast has mainly male characters but they also have good female characters, who are not just for fanservice or to represent something, they are secondary characters who intervene when necessary and who, with their simple actions, manage to motivate the main cast on many occasions. The main cast have different charming personalities but they have a lot of development in the road of the success. Both are pretty motivational

Idol animes that aren't afraid to break the formula of being an anime idol. Both series are about the main group making their step in the idol world and the high and lows about it. The series don't focus only on their center, they give the entire cast a different development and background, which are really good. Both mix the comedy and tragedy in a good way.
