Both are about everyday life of a very likeable group of high school girls dealing with their everyday life. Azumanga Daioh is the more grounded one, focusing more on character growth as the friendship between the girls develops. Nichijou mostly focuses on making the ordinary extraordinary, both literally and figuratively. While extremely similiar at first glance, they have their very distinct identities, but they're absolute must see.

If you liked Seirei no Moribito add

...then you might like Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 add

Both have an adult, reliable and strong female protagonist protecting children during their travel in a hostile environment. Moribito takes place in a medieval setting and the protagonists are chased, so they need to lay low to survive. TM8 takes place in modern times, doing its best to show the audience how a strong earthquake can break everyday life. I feel Moribito was way underlooked, but it's the better one in my eyes.
