Adapted from the manga written and drawn by Takahashi Keitarou, the anime was released in spring of 2012. In a nutshell, the story revolves around an arms dealer, named Koko Hekmatyar, and her crew of mercenaries with their new addition to the group, Jonathan Mar, a child soldier.
Story
The anime consists of small arcs, one to two episodes long, each concentrating on a member of the group and their corresponding profession. Nicely paced, you are kept entertained at all times with gory action scenes and tense negotiations, while having occasionally some comedy and light-hearted moments.
Characters
Unfortunately, the biggest downfall of this series, is the lacking character development.
...
At the beginning of the anime, you are already overwhelmed with a huge cast of characters which I couldn't even fully remember myself at the end of the anime. Out of all the members, only two characters, besides Koko and Jonathan, received some proper development, while the history and background story of others were briefly mentioned or left out. It's a real shame though they had to split the series into two seasons, as most of the character are fun to watch.
Animation
As for the animation, 'White Fox', who was responsible for other anime, such as 'Steins;Gate' or 'Katanagatari', did a great job on the animation, especially with their stunning backgrounds. The animation was fluid and pleasing to the eye.
Sound
The audio, in my opinion was by far the strongest aspect of 'Jormungand'. While the opening was fast paced, electronic music, and the ending a slow paced, violin themed song, they both were enjoyable to listen to and had a catchy tune to them. Taku Iwasaki, did an amazing job with the soundtrack, which was utilised throughout the series. There isn't much complaining about the sound effects and dubbing either.
Verdict
Overall, it was an enjoyable show. It's definitely worth a try, especially if you like anime like Canaan or Black Lagoon.

For my second review, I chose Black Lagoon as it's one of my favorite animes. So let us start with the review, shall we?
The anime doesn't consist of any major storyline, but rather of small episode arcs. So Black Lagoon is somewhat similar to an episodic anime series. Despite it, you barely, or should I rather say never, get bored throughout the entire series. To me, Black Lagoon basically felt like an intense summer hollywood action blockbuster movie. And just to point out how crazy and awesome Black Lagoon actually is, I have one thing to say: Nuns with guns!!
One thing I'd like to criticize though,
...
is the abrupt ending of the first season. So it's highly recommended that you watch the second season, as it basically leaves off where this season ends.
Let's head on to the sound. I personally like the opening and ending. While the opening is a punk rock song, which makes me wanna flip over tables and punch someone in the face, the ending seems in some episodes out of place for it's more slower and sadder music, which already starts within the end of the episode. The in-episode music is great and fits most of the scenes well. And for those who are choosing between sub and dub: I highly recommend choosing the dub as it suits the characters overall much better.
The art in Black Lagoon is quite beautiful. If you pay attention to it, you'll notice how detailed, colorful and well drawn the characters and the background are. The animation is very smooth and enjoyable as well.
At first, once you start watching the show, the build-up of the Black Lagoon seems quite cliché. You got your stereotypical black dude, the computer geek, the crazy chick with guns and the calm reasonable guy. But you'll find out that every character in this anime is quite unique with its own personality and background story. Unlike other action packed animes, there's quite a bit of character development. As the story progresses, you'll notice that most of the character development is being put into the protagonist Rock and Revy, who are in my opinion undoubtedly the most interesting characters of all, besides Balalaika.
So, is it worth watching? Definitely! It's got superb animation, great character development and kick-ass action scenes and characters. What more is there to want? I would recommend to stay away though if you are a young viewer or dislike violence, foul language and gory scenes.

This is my very first review, so please bear with me...
After reading 36 chapters, I can pretty much say that this story lacks originality. The story's based on your typical love triangle and childhood promise, so you won't find anything new here. Despite the generic and predictable story, Komi Naoshi still manages to keep me hooked to it by utilizing quite a few minor plot twist throughout the story.
The art is probably where the manga shines the most. It's easy to enjoy and will definitely make you laugh on some occasions. The drawing style matches the story really well in my opinion.
The characters in Nisekoi are as
...
cliché as the story itself. Also, I couldn't help but notice at one point of the story, how this manga has slowly turned into a harem. As for the character development, it's mediocre and really not worth mentioning.
To sum it up, Nisekoi is more of a romance/slice of life shounen manga which heavily depends on comedy and its art, in order to survive.
Would I recommend it? Well, it depends. If you aren't bothered too much by chlichés and the unoriginality present in the story, you'll definitely take a liking in the manga. Otherwise I wouldn't be concerned reading it at all, especially if you are looking for a serious romance.
