While completely different sports: - Both are coming of age stories that follow the MC from childhood - Both have a father that competes in the sport of interest - Both have their father die at the hands of a rival, with the MC seeking to avenge them - Both involve a rivalry with the son of the man that killed their father

I like to think that Ashita no Joe walked so that Hajime no Ippo could run. The animes are very different stylistically, but Ashita no Joe was a huge influence for Hajime no Ippo, and there are a considerable number of nods to Ashita no Joe throughout the series that point to that fact (I can't go into those for obvious spoiler reasons). Hajime no Ippo has a more light-hearted, comedic tone a lot of the time, while Ashita no Joe is more of a drama, but if you like Hajime no Ippo, I can almost guarantee that you'd enjoy Ashita no Joe.

Both anime heavily lean into the concept of travelling back in time and re-doing events and correcting the future. There are differences with this, of course. ERASED deals with long-term time travelling, to the point where the MC is travelling back to his childhood, whereas the MC in Summertime Render is transported back a few days. Regardless of that difference, if you're into anime that feature looping and time travelling like ERASED, you probably would like Summertime Render as a result.
