I got to see this in theaters today and I was blown away. My opinion may not be as valid as I haven't read the manga yet, but from my standpoint it was a spectacular movie. Take the heart and emotion and talent poured into episode 19 of the first season of the series, and stretch it out over a full-length movie. Everything was very well-paced, and I enjoyed every second of the experience. In the end, I could hear some people sniffling in the audience and I was ready to buy another ticket and see it again!

My recommendation is that you go out and ... judge it for yourself! Definitely see it in theaters if you're able to!

I loved this series. Hiyora Oku has yet again made a wonderful, artistic, and compelling story. The art is wonderful and realistic, by which I mean the characters actually look Japanese. The 3D animated scenes can be a bit iffy, but compared to most 3D anime, it is good.

The whole series was an emotional rollercoaster, having you thrilled at one moment, sad at another, and then appalled at some points. But overall it gives off a sense of hope and salvation.

I'll keep it short: If you're looking for an emotional series filled with action, crime, sci-fi, and great character development, I highly recommend ... this.

The only reasons I give this an 8/10 are the iffy 3D moments (which are still better than most), and because the ending feels a bit rushed, like it should have been spanned over 2 episodes.

But all-in-all, it's a great short series. And the OP is one of my all-time favorites.

A very bland plot, and like a majority of ecchis, it relies heavily on unnecessary fan service. The premise of it sounds cool, animal/human hybrids put into a death battle tournament. But, the way it's executed is very poor.

In short, imagine the characters from Terra Formars, only they're all Sekirei characters (with some overly muscular men thrown into the mix) and they fight each other with no character development at all.

It's furry fan service with fights every now and then.

So, if you're looking to whack it off to scantily clad animalistic girls duking it out, this is the perfect anime for you. Otherwise, I'd ... give this anime a pass.

This adaptation was filled with horrible artwork and animation all around. The artwork was mostly 3D that made PS2 games look like it was made on the Unreal engine. Most character models look lifeless and are reused a lot, the animation does not flow smoothly at all, and there is zero detail put into anyone, even Guts! There are parts where there is drawn animation, but even that is undetailed crap with the only animation being the characters' mouths moving.

Plus there was no character development. They did nothing to show any of the characters' convictions or development. All they do to show you how Guts ... feels about Casca is having him yell her name a bunch of times. They also do nothing to show the complex thoughts rushing through Guts' mind, such as that he actually hates killing and doesn't revel in the blood of his enemies. He is portrayed as some asshole just killing people left and right to get to Casca.

A lot of stuff was cut out too, such as the Lost Children Arc, the fight between Griffith and Zodd (which tells us why Zodd is siding with him and missing a horn), and they do nothing to explain why the Knights of the Iron Chain are after him.

It was also riddled with horrible editing, extremely poor sound quality (seriously, why does his sword make a sound resembling pots banging together?!), very mismatched music, and a slew of other problems.

The creator of this anime adaption was highly unqualified to do this, as he had A) Never worked on an anime with quality or a serious tone, and B) Had zero experience with 3D animation.

Even though Berserk is so artistic and complex that it's near impossible to perfectly adapt it, there was no excuse for this steaming pile of shit.

And for anyone defending this anime, let me ask, do you like the Dark Souls games? You do? Okay now imagine if we took Dark Souls and lowered its graphics to minimal settings, replaced the sound effects with pots and pans, got rid of 90% of the narrative, and threw in mixes of techno remixes and metal at odd times. That roughly translates to what Shin Itagaki's inexperienced ass did to the Berserk manga.

I would not recommend this to anyone, especially any Berserk fans. I would recommend, the Berserk manga (which is one of the greatest manga ever), the original anime (Listed as Kenpuu Denki Berserk), and the 3 Golden Age Arc movies. The movies aren't perfect, but they're 100x better than this.
