Manga de Wakaru! Fate/Grand Order

Both are meta humor about their respective show/franchise that were funny and unexpectedly on the nose with their humor. Had me asking what on earth I was watching but in a good way. Do need to a F/GO fan to fully appreciate Manga de Wakaru! Whereas Ghost Stories is for anyone.

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou

Built on a backbone of an apocalyptic world and slow pacing, both of these series focus on the nature and purpose of being, and what it is to be alive when everything is dying or dead. Casshern is a bit more action and story focused, while SSR is more episodic, but each takes its own methodical look at the world through symbolism and background imagery, as well as poignant character interaction.

Darling in the FranXX

Made by some of the same people and following the major themes of giant robot fights, puberty, and coming into ones own self with the help of close friends, these two series encompass many of the positive aspects of the mecha genre as they relate to believing in one's comrades and themselves. Neither series busies itself with explaining mechanics beyond "here is the world and people get stronger through the power of friendship and reconciliation" but appreciating them for the uplifting message and character interaction and growth rather than number of plot holes takes the viewer for an amazing ride.

A mixture of corful characters and dangerous mystery exhibit the best aspects of both series. Both are also set in a world of swords of magic, but many characters rely on brains and planning of brawn and straight fights. Re:zero possess a wider cast and more plot threads, where Rokka no Yuusha is more focused more on mysteries and intense action.
