When i first started watching it I did find myself rather confused and like I didn't quite understand the storyline however after paying a little more attention and letting the movie develop I began to understand it.

It's a difficult anime to understand for a lot of people,the purpose and the reasoning behind stuff/what's truly going on is not made very clear, it's not right infront of your face so I can understand why some may not like it but once u understand just like the art/animation it is beautiful.

I believe this movie has meaning and is trying to teach us something.

A Teaching/message is that ... we actual have little time and as humans we tend hold onto the past and have difficult time coming to terms with death or letting go, we want to change the past/future which can cause us to ignore the present,be ungrateful and not live in the moment so sometimes we just need a little time to finally come to terms with the way things are and let go so we can move forward and focuse on the present instead of staying in one place. We should live in the moment and cherish all the time we have because it won't be forever anything can happen to us, time is truly a precious thing.

You could also say another message is to never be afraid to act if its on behalf of others. We should do what is best for them even if we are scared.

That's my interpretation as in the movie the town is stuck in one place and the people are trying so hard to prevent it from disappearing and accepting that something big did happen and some did die because they wish they could change the events that took place. we also see its difficult for the characters to let go of the little girl and she also finds it hard to let go and leave them behind she doesn't want to move forward instead she wants fo stay there suck in the past and because the best thing for her is to return home the main character acts on behalf of her (a few times actually) and pushing her to go even though she's doesn't want to because change is a difficult thing and so is moving on.

If you have watched "The Apothecary Diaries" then you will see the two are similar but in comparison "Raven of the Inner Palace" is clearly lacking.

The art for the raven consort is beautiful compared to the other characters (mostly males) who have a plain design and seem completely expressionless most the time, the story line is good however it just feels a bit repetitive and as somebody else already said soulless, it just feels a little dull like it needs something more to it and i feel the characters need to have more expression as it's what makes us feel something and understand better.

I ... wish the problems with ghosts were more different and not basically the same or always being solved the same way as it got a little boring, it didn't feel mysterious at all they were solved within 1 or 2 episodes which is far too quickly to be mysterious and not so boring they should be slowed which would have allowed for more details to be included.

I think maybe a few more episodes/another season would have made improved it a little and allowed it to feel like it had a soul, be more interesting/moving and have more detail/information.

Im glad I gave it a chance and watched it it was worth it as it was something a little different to watch i just personally feel it isn't as good as people are making it out to be. (i still say try watching it before making judgement you may like it more than i did)
