7/10 ~ Talking the anime lol
So I did enjoy this show that I binged in 1 tattoo session. This was the perfect kinda show to watch as it was almost entirely talking and the story for the most part was fairly easy to follow. Funny tidbit about when I was watching this, several people came over to see the work being done to see me just zoned out watching this. And several of the people asked me if this was anything like "Solo Leveling" or "seven deadly sins", it was really hard to keep a straight face when I told them "yes" lmfao.
Pros:
- first
...
1/2 or so of the show is extremely good and hooks you in
- the MC despite being a know it all is a very likeable character
--I enjoyed most of the supporting cast
- the story taking place in Ancient China is always a good setting, cant wait for more Kingdom!
- English dub was good
- I got waay too invested in all the dumb stories for the first 1/2
Cons:
- not sure if its translations, or they expect you to have an understanding of Ancient China/ Chinese general culture but alot of the terms and what conspired were very confusing...
- The MC being a "Mary Sue" gets old, shes like 17 with WAAAAY too much knowledge
- I understand that the sex district is just one of the main settings but whollyboobs, that was distracting in a 'hard to take you seriously' kinda way
- sherlock type mysteries were very poorly done
- I enjoyed the light romances but I can see them being to light for most people
- music score was pretty meh
- pacing in the 2nd half was so bad
This show had an extremely good start with the first 10 or so episodes, until it quickly becomes "mystery of the week" which was an extreme low of the show as it was executed pretty poorly imo. Luckily it does all kinda come together as a mini reward for getting to the end of the season. Which is always satisfying when you feel "paid off" for making it through something. Tho if I wasn't literally confided to a table with nothing else downloaded on my tablet I probably would have not continued when it hit that low low point. I am very shocked how well rated this show is, and similar to Frieren I am so confused how the general public finds these really niche shows to be legendary.
I would only recommend this to people who are fine with shows about low tier political intrigue, romance and bullshit science fiction mixed in, bit too much of "dont worry about it bro" and "trust me" going on with this one lol, but I enjoyed it well enough.
7/10 is actually quite high of a rating for me as my average rating is right on the mark of 5/10, This is also quite hard for me to seriously recommend to anyone that I know as it doesn't do the romance thing well enough, and its too romancy for the Shonen crowd.

6/10 ~ When I say something is 6/10 I think of Cyber City 080
I cant remember how I stumbled upon this one as it is far before my time when I was young, well here I am. I did enjoy my time, and I watched all 3 episodes over a month apart and was able to keep up with what happened previously, probably only doable to the fact these are all one-shots.
Pros
- Some true golden age cyber punk anime right here
- the English dub is hilarious, truly only something that could come from an OVA
- the action was decent
- the world they
...
pained with mostly visuals was quite enjoyable
- the upbeat synth tracks really slapped
- story was easy to follow, probably to a fault
--i did enjoy that each of the MC's got their own ep.
Cons
- the charecters were all just 1 dimensional tropes
- tho the story was easy to follow, there wasnt actually that much story per ep. they just kinda did stuff to a formula
- pretty close to zero development amongst the over arching "plot" and individual charecters
- no actual ending
Such a wasted potential this was, but such is the way of the old OVA series that never got any traction. Watch this for the hilarious English dub and cyber punk aesthetic and 80's vibe. Over all I did enjoy my time, however this one is forsure a skip for most people unless you crave this sort of thing. Pretty hard to recommend to be honest.

5/10 ~ humorous enough, but skippable
These are 6 episodes containing 3 parts each (A,B,C) totaling 18 little episodes that are all bit/chibi art. This is entirely all little joke skits but it technically is all new content.
Some of the better ones that actually add some detail to the plot but were also enjoyable were: 2B, 4C
Overall most people will not watch these as they are pretty obscure as they were Specials bundled with the Blu-ray volumes. However someone uploaded them on youtube and they are still viewable as of the end 1/22/25. But honestly dont feel like you need to go out of your
...
way to watch these unless you CRAVE the MOB lol

6.25/10 ~ a noticeable step down in quality
The begining of season 3 was really quite slow and got to the shows most boring towards the middle section which was my problem with season 1 a whole.
Pros:
- Some of the conclusions were quite cathartic
- the final action scene brining back the original intro has so hype
- im glad they just stopped introducing new characters I dont care about
- Overall this was a story about trauma and how it can really change you, if you look at it that way it was done well enough
...
Cons:
- most of season 3 felt like filler... thats not good for a conclusion
- jokes were not as good as season2, better then season 1
- only Mob and the master had any amount of meaningful growth
- the final boss of the show was VERY predictable
- I wish death ment something in the show...
- music still not great
- there was clearly budget cuts or something as the animation and art got real bad through out the season
- the conclusion was just... ok which is not acceptable as an end
- most of the lessons they tried to convey fell pretty flat
Season 1: 6/10
Season 2: 6.5/10 - 7.0/10
Season 3: 6.25/10
Show Overall rating 6.25/10
Overall Mob psycho in time will only be remembered for its pretty unique art style for its time, its story, charecters and plot are all pretty forgettable. I enjoyed the run well enough but this show as a whole sits just bellow my bench mark of where I go out of my way to recommend / talk about something which is 6.5/10. Like I said for season1, im sure this will be some peoples favorite anime of all time and get many 8/10+ ratings and that this show just is not for me.

7/10 ~ A good sequel
This is the rare time that a show actually improves in the the second and middling season, usually most effort is put into the begining and end of most things. I had alot of problems with season 1, mostly that it was just so boring, there was no meaningful devilment and things just kinda happened. Season 2 took alot of what was wrong and built the story for the better. For reference I rated Season 1: 6/10
Pros:
- Most of the main cast actually help and develops, however the show is starting to feel like One-Punch where eventually if Mob gets
...
too powerful then nothing will ever matter that doesn't involve him
- the jokes from my point of view were much better
- season 2 did not feel as boring
Cons:
- The fights were more frequent but honestly season 1 really stood out with these scene because they were so sparce, this season they are a dime a dozen and feel cheapened.
- the new intro song is very inferior to season 1 imo
--music overall still not great
- I still dont care about pretty much any of the charecters except the "master"...
--mob is the worst charecter
- story is still quite dumb and forgettable
- tho the story is LESS boring it can get boring
If you have made it to the end of Season 1 for Mob Psycho and enjoyed it you will most likely enjoy this season as well. The next thing to watch is technically the OVA "A Healing Trip That Warms the Heart" that is 100% a filler episode that you should feel free to skip in my opinion as it has no baring on the plot of Season 3 and nothing actually happens. Im really hoping that season 3 will be a great end.

5/10 ~ Just a Filler episode
This for all intensive purposes should just be considered episode 14 of season 2 as it happens directly after the events of the finally of season 2. That being said this is just a filler episode with almost no baring on season 3, but this is better then a over glorified recap episode that was the first special of season 1. Tho this is technically a hot spring episode that is so cliche but almost a requitement for some reason for all Shōnen to have these days, it is bay any means ecchi, so there's that I suppose.
...
Being a silly 1 shot, the story is poor, zero development that matters. I probably would have skipped this personally if I knew this going in. This filler episode is for any diehard fan of Mob and just needs any content, I understand this is not for me.

3.75/10 ~ Waste of time
This is just an hour long recap episode directed towards to people who either needed to catch up for season 2 or a refresher on what happened.
There is a little bit of new content, the first 5 or so minutes, then its almost 100% recap so you can skip to the 52 minute mark and the final 8 minutes is technically like episode 12.5
For me this show is just very okay, so getting to a hour long recap episode felt like a waste of time, if it wasnt for Crunchyroll auto starting it after Ep12 I would have never
...
sought this out personally. Feel free to skip this one, but its more Mob if thats what you crave.

6.0/10 ~ Visual masterpiece with little substance
I originally watched bits and pieces of this one with some friends when it first launched and I really didnt enjoy it, I think when I joined MAL I gave it a 5/10 and that was generous to how I felt. Honestly I think I let outside circumstances cloud my judgment on that initial review and I really did not give the show a chance. I binged the entire Season 1 in a single sitting today and I must say its much better then I originally thought. Sure all the enjoyment is packed literally into the very unique art
...
style and the constant gag humor but man did some of those jokes really hit. However for every joke that hit, there was 2-3 more that I just did not find funny and or they went over my head. I do think this show is a bit overrated especially now that the hype has cooled down quite a bit.
Pros:
- The art style is the biggest draw to this show, if you do not like this, then you should probably pass
- When the humor is good, it really slaps
- Honestly one of the most fitting into songs to a show ive ever seen
- fight scenes are pretty good if that is your thing
- alot of the morals the show trys to push (and make fun of) are actually pretty good
- love the show doesnt take itself seriously
- Tho MC is boring, much of the supporting cast is pretty likeable
- English Dub is decent
Cons:
- most of season 1 gets pretty slice of lifey and feels very out of place, doesnt add much and is really slow, especially for a Shonen
- music during the show are pretty unrememberable
- when the jokes are not funny they feel like a waste of time
- MC is boring as hell... kinda the point but still dont like it
- much of the cast arnt quite paper cut outs but due to being a gag-anime they are closer to caricatures
- plot is riddled with holes...dont think about it
Over all I think if you enjoy Shonen as a general medium then you will most likely enjoy this one. If you are like me and generally dont care too much for fight scenes then you may want to watch this for the incredible art style/animation. This show is kinda boring for much of the run time and really leans on its humor to move forward so with that in mind I really could see anyone giving this a 8/10+ to even saying "this is my favorite anime", and I understand this one just is not for me, but I still enjoyed it enough to move on to season 2. Remember that 5/10 is average and anything over a 6.5/10 in my opinion is worth mentioning.
**Edit: After watching Season2 I have concluded this needs to be dropped down to 6.0/10 from my original 6.5/10, S2 is just better marginally.

6.0/10 ~ Destined to be remembered as that one Nazi movie
I will occasionally see clips of this movie come up every now and then from the first bit of the movie. Today I finally decided to watch this one to see what all the low key hype was about.
Pros:
- Intro, about the first 15-20 minutes was an extremely strong start and honestly if they just kept it as a short it would have gone down as a legendary piece. Less is more
- the setting of the story in alternate 1950's Japan was pretty neat
- the movies action and suspense was all pretty well done
-
...
despite the movie not landing on any one point its pacing and story structure was actually very well done
- animation was pretty good
- English dub wasn't horrible
- people who think that this stole from fallout seriously need to go read a history book lol
Cons:
- The characters are all so unemotional and bland
- I think they were trying to tell a sub story about PTSD... but it was poorly done
- I feel like the end of the movie made me waste 100min of my life I wont get back
- the romance felt forced... which was the point? hard to tell
- music was fitting but unrememberable
- the 'Wolf in sheep's clothing' motif was drawn out and a bit over done... I think if it was approached differently it could have been better
- I followed the plot well enough, however I know this type of thing will go over most heads, and needed more exposition that would have made the movie unbearably slow lol
This is the type of movie that tries to be deep but in the end the only thing that came from it is a series of pretty cool action sequences and alot of WTF moments. Intellectually I feel like I wasted my time as the movie eggs you on through out the entire 100min run time that it is trying to tell you something deep, but visually it was a good time to just kinda shut your brain off to. Anyone who rates this over an 8/10 I would seriously doubt they have seen better, they understand how a 0-10 scale works or only click with the extreme edge of it all. Its pretty hard to recommend this one for anything but the action and style that the movies oozes.

6.75/10 ~ Nice little standalone piece
I just finished re-watching Visions of Escaflowne (the TV series) for the first time since I was a child, at the conclusion I realized when I went to leave a review that there was a title under "related" that I imagine most people never use. I then realized there was a movie related to the series and here I am.
The movie is not a sequel but more of a retelling of the TV series from more or less begining to end. This movie is also not a recap and honestly should just be considered its own thing.
However
...
there are many key similarities:
-Most of the charecters return with a change of outfit or role
-most of the English voice cast returns in the same roll
-plot on a wide scope is very similar
-the movie leaves out alot of exposition assuming you have already seen the TV series, which I would assume that would be very jarring for a newcomer to the IP
Most of the pros and cons I have are directly compared to the TV series:
Pros:
- mobile suits are so much more special and powerful compared to the TV series, especially since they are NOT a dime a dozen
- Boddy horror was jarring in a good way to prove the sacrifice it takes to piolet these legendary machines
- the few songs were quite good and stood out, unlike the entire music score from the TV series
- animation felt more at home and matched the darker tones of the movie VS the much lighter tones of the TV series
--the quality of the animation was turned up significantly from the TV series
--this is just a beautiful movie... The animation is just dripping with emotion, that the characters lack. I would say this is closer to just being art then a drama.
- fight scenes were sooo much better, not close
- nearly ever character made a re-appearance even if it was just a cameo from the TV series
- short and sweet, as they made more of an emphasis on animation, action and the bio-mechanical
- I personally enjoyed the darker undertones of the Movie that the TV show tried to have but failed at
Cons:
- because of the nature of being a short movie and assuming you've seen the TV series everything felt rushed through
--movie pacing was too fast because they tried to cover too much in too short of a time
--no world building
--no good character development
--romance is pretty barebones
- plot felt like it was ripped from a videogame vs the TV series
- almost all character's motivation is just "okay I believe you"
- every single character felt like a cardboard cutout
- ending was pretty meh... "ill be here forever" lol
- past a few scenes such as suiting up in the Escaflowne... most of this will be forgotten
Over all I believe that this movie is a great standalone piece that wonderfully blends Fantasy and Scifi. This movie does feel diffrent enough where it does take on its own identify, this goes past the animation difference as it takes all the key concepts of the TV series and turns the dials up significantly; the scifi parts feel more scifi to a fantastical level. This will live in my mind next to Gundam: War in the Pocket, due to having some very memorable scenes and concepts but outside of those few scene the rest is so forgettable. I would say that this is the inferior product to the TV show, which I rated a 7.25/10, if you started here I urge you to go watch Visions next.
I would recommend watching this to anyone that has seen the TV series, and anyone that enjoys the blend of Scifi and Magic.
