I went into Noragami thinking it was going to be a show that mixes the feelings of an action packed Shonen and an edgy Seinen, but I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, the dialogue was funny and the animation quality never really hindered, but the chemistry between the characters wasn't the greatest. On their own, the characters are great but the way that their stories developed weren't the best, except Yato. Examples of this viewpoint can be explored such as after Yukine dealt with certain problems that are not to be named because of reasons such as letting people actually read this to help ... know if they will like the show or not, it felt like he kind of left the story, or the fact that Hiyori never actually gets anything done in the show except help Yukine and Yato, which didn't add on to her story. Yato's story on the other hand was quite interesting as he fought his way through the many problems he himself had inadvertantly created.

As for the actual story itself, it was kind of confusing. There really wasn't any particular goal in mind these people had, except Hiyori wanting to not fall and go to sleep every time Yato shows up. The main antagonist doesn't really exist because the villain who is supposed to be the main point of interest's main point of interest doesn't show up until the show is rolling towards the closing of curtains and his backstory is basically that he's evil and his evilness made him gain the power to be more evil, with his true intent for all the suffering he's brought being, to become more evil than any other man. (Okay, no more mentioning of the word evil)

All in all, the show is more or less your average Shonen with good comedy and an average but fun premise, which is why I give it a 7.3/10 for the personal scale. (Keep in mind, the personal scale shall not be used to diminish your wanting to watch this or any other show) Make sure to keep your seatbelts on in this rollercoaster we people call life.

I know that everyone on the internet right now is talking about how good this show is, but I think that season 1 is slightly overrated. Now, don't get me wrong, Dandadan is a good show, especially episode 7, but I just feel like it's just a big 5 hour long introduction. I think that season 2 will be way better, which is why I will definitely check that out when it releases. Like I was saying, I get why people love this show, but all the intense action and interesting plot line is kind of held back by the sheer goofiness that the characters ... possess. I do like goofy shows, but Dandadan just seems a bit too cringe like a bad romance anime.

Now that I have stopped my ranting, I want to point out the highlights. As I mentioned before, Episode 7 is quite frankly a masterpiece and should be put in an art gallery or something like that. That episode almost made me cry, which is a feat that few anime have ever done. The comedy in the show is great pretty consistently throughout the show, which is rare for an anime. The animation quality is wonderful and deserves the praise it has gotten, and finally, Okarun is one of, if not my favorite main character from an anime that came out this year. I recommend this show to the people who like action filled comedic anime that make you feel all the feels, but my final score is a 7.8/10.
