If I have to describe Cagaster in short I'd say:
It's kinda setup like a generic action movie, short and straightforward but enjoyable at least with some intriguing stuff happening throughout the world.
You got your introduction to the characters, a mystery/twist appears, action stuff mid-movie scenes, flashback (you gotta have a flashback!) and the climax with an ending that's open because you want those handful of people hoping for a sequel which will never come.
Since the synopsis of MAL is a bit bare-bones, which is understandable, I'll write some more information below for people who like to know a bit more where the manga is going
...
towards. I'll say there's a slight spoiler warning, just in case:
Kidou (Kidow in English) is simply said your typical edgy-teen who is like the only one who classifies as special marine corps in this world, why?, because he is the MC.
At the start he finds Ilie in the desert, a young girl who has ran away from her hometown village, and takes her with him to E-05, one of the few habitable cities which borders near the line of insect-monster (cagaster) infested territory.
Cagaster's story starts off with Kidow's and Ilie's past and sudden trouble with abnormal cagaster behavior happening around the area. From here on out the story kickstarts.
So if you want to read a manga that's finished and not too long, Cagaster is something you might want to read.
