I wanted to watch all of these after watching MEMEME and Robot on the Road, those were amazing, especially in the animation department so I assumed all of these would be. After watching the first one that expectation was already broken. After watching all of them, it was even worse. I would say that maybe 5 or so of these are good and most are just average. I was especially disappointed by the art direction, a lof of them went for a kind of western, "realistic" look that I did not like.

A lot of these also seem like pilots for series? Where there is a ... lot of buildup of the world, that indeed does seem interesting, but since we only see 7 minutes of it, it doesn't add much. Then there are a bunch which are just mecha shorts, which is probably very nice if you are into those.

The ones I would recommend are: 3, 6 ,17, 18, 19, 25, 27 and 34

Jisatsutou or Suicide Island scratches that itch that only weekly serialized manga can. Usually when a manga goes into serialization, the author has planned out the story for a couple of chapters, or he knows how he wants to end it. However, once they get into the grind of weekly chapters where they have to not only draw 20 pages but also think of a story for those 20 pages, that makes the reader want to come back for the next chapter. This process makes the story somewhat of a mess, but it's a delightful mess that is perfected in this manga.

After around 30 chapters, ... at any time there are around 5 threats going on all at the same time. And once you start reading a chapter, you never know which threat the author is actually going to use. Will the enemy village attack? Could another batch of islanders drop? Will the winter make getting food impossible? Will the wild hogs attack? Will that one villager run away? WIll that weird villager do something stupid? It's such a wild ride and I love it.

Next to that craziness, there is also some really interesting themes going on. I really like how the main character finds his will to live again after just vibing in the forest. Not really a fan of the "maybe forced rapeis good if they are treated very well??" part, but I guess that's just part of the rollercoaster.

I think the concept for this manga is pretty simple, bu surprisingly new. It's basiclaly a comedy about a woman who is so pretty that all men immediately fall in love with her and it's about how this impacts her everyday life. This gives comedic situations like where she usually dresses up as obscue characters or monsters so people don' see her beauty or recognizer her. It also has a dramatic edge, that's where the title comes from "I mostly cry", which is apparently what she does when she is alone. This is because due to her beauty she is also socially isolated, women envy ... her and all men are obsessed with her.

Unfortunately, for me atleast, this manga is a bit ruined by the Japanese humor. Though the comedy I described above also works pretty well for a western audience, most of the jokes are obscure references to Japanese media that, even if you know the reference, are not that funny.

Artwise it's so-so, the backgrounds are clearly just photos done through a filter ir drawn over quickly. The character art however is very well done in my opinion, expressions are some of the best I have seen and the beauty and elegance of the main character are portrayed excellently for instance. For a comedy manga I would say the art is excellent, taking into account other manga it's above average.

Overall I wouldn't really recommend this over other works of Higashimua Akiko, Kakukaku Shikajika is still her masterpiece and other works like tokyo tarareba girls and yukibana no tora are more interesting than this.

Kite looks beautiful. It has the same bright colours and style as anime like Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion. However, as opposed to those anime, Kite does not deliver on the story front. I would say the story is just a mess, the relationships between all the characters are super underdeveloped. There are also a bunch of sex scenes, which this show would be much better without. They show up out of nowhere and make almost no sense in the story.

Maybe I am too dumb and I missed it, but I do not see how the title is at all relevant to ... the plot. I assume the protagonist is supposed to be the titular kite, but I do not really see how that would fit. A kite makes you think of being adrift and apart from the world. But this is not the case at all, our protagonist still goes to school even.

This is an incredible piece of animation, some of the best I have seen. It is unfortunate that the best quality i could find this in is so low. However, having read some of the source material and watched the other anime Nekojiru Gekijou, I have to say this does not fit the source material very well. It is kind of an surreal take on it, I guess? I enjoyed Nekojiru Gekijou much more, depicting the manga and keeping its vibe very well.

I would say if you are a fan of really good, fluid animation or surrealist art, you should definitely watch this. However, ... if you are here to see Nyakko and Nyatta be mean and bully some farm animals, this is not the right place.

I was impressed how Urasawa was able to write a complete story in only 9 chapters, with multiple welll-setup characters and a satisfying character arc. Urasawa has always been a master at having characters feel like real people, with great dialogue, and great designs and expressions. Moreover, his stories always have a great pace, also seen in the artwork that may seem less detailed and pretty than your average manga art, but it serves its purpose and always conveys the right atmosphere.

However, it seems Urasawa bit of a bit more than he could chew, the second half of the last chapters feels like ... an exposition dump basically solving all the mysteries. That part felt very rushed, similarly with the Mujirushi symbol. From the title, cover and first chapter, you would think that the symbol would have some large meaning or maybe connect everything, but it really does not. Especially the last reference to it seems very forced how Michel supposedly has always dreamt of becoming a certain tier of firefighter who wear a badge with the Mujirushi symbol... Billy Bat did the reoccurring symbol a lot better, and I think this manga would have been much better without it.

It starts of really interesting. Sketching a future, that could actually be pretty close to reality. We are introduced to Chicken George, a chicken man evolved from an artifical chicken breast who is a genius and has come to earth to eradicate human life, at least thats what he says. The message of the story is that humans are bad and destroying the earth, and that's why the plants take revenge.

All the enjoyment of this manga will be mostly from the plot around Chicken George, other main characters don't feel like real people, more like devices used in the story to make stuff ... happen. So when at the end of the story Chicken George is out of the picture, you see how bad it actually is without him. The only reason you may want to keep reading is for the ending, which doesn't really surprise.

The art is very interesting, it really fits the story with its creepiness and strong shading. Making it look like a real dystopia.

I started reading this mostly because it started of really interesting but it slowly goes downhill and becomes more of a drag. Only if you are interested in weird sci-fi future stuff I would recommend this.
